I have a 1989 4 runner in which the rear tailgate window motor has finally died.I haven't been able to get an aftermarket motor.Toyota would like me to part with 380 dollars .I would like to know if anyone knows of any supplier other than Toyota that sells the motor for a reasonable cost?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Well i just did mine like 2 months ago.. and i had same problem ... umm .. i got one from Lordco for about 180$ canadian it was aftermarket but eh .. good enough. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info.I had checked with Lordco before,but now they dug a little deeper and found one.Their listing starts mid 1989 which starts the next model year.They ordered one in,I checked the mounting pattern and other details to see if it would work,and it works fine.You saved me lots of money.Thank you once again.

For all that are interested where I was able to get the rear window motor,aftermarket,it was from Lordco Auto Parts(www.lordco.com).The part number is 471103 and the line was 53E.As stated before, their listing begins mid 89.My Toyota was built 02/89.This should be all the info required.I hope this will help other Toyota owners.

I had a similar problem with my '89 4Runner except the motor would spin but the window wouldn't move. I trouble shoot it to the gear on the motor being stripped of it's teeth. I managed to find one off ebay for $50. Had some problems with the seller actually sending me the part but he eventually did. He did have several others for sale, I imagine he got them out of a junkyard. For $50 it was worth it to me. keep looking on ebay and they do turn up.

4-Runner rear tailgate window motor can be aquired in excellent shape,price & easily by going to a junk yard and looking for the following:

A)80’s Celica/Supra
B)87-91 Camry (left or back door) Toyota # 85720-32040,NipponDenso # 062100-2410 passenger side door power window motor out of Camry
C)Mazda 323 or 626’s passenger or driver’s side window motor two of the holes line up while the 3rd needs filing.

Then just cut off the old harness plug and install on any of the above ones.

I have a 1990 4runner and just changed over my rear window motor with a land cruiser left rear door motor, bolted straight on no mods needed. I think the cruiser one was a similar year and gear driven not a cable.
