The seat lever has broken off on the drivers side. Part of the gear like bolt is in the seat portion of the mechanism and part is in the lever itself.
Does anyone know where i could find a replacement part & how to repair? Unfortunately the seat was not in a great position when it broke. HELP!! Thanks much, Jim

Many auto parts stores have a replacement lever that fastens with a set screw to the remainder of the reclining lever shaft. O'reilly and AutoZone have them I know for sure.

Go to a self serve auto wreck, and take it off yourself.
Then you will know how it works and it'll be easy to fix yours with the used parts

In the mean time use vise grips to get your seat back to position.

Your best bet is to go to AutoZone. They sell the levers in the HELP!! section. They cost $8 for both sides. They will work even if part of the shaft is broken. Go ahead and change the other side, too, it will keep it from breaking.

When GM installed the original levers, they used screws that were too big. The oversized screws weakened the shafts. If you get a shaft off a junker....chances are it will break, too.
