i have a 92 camry do I need feion in my line to see if my ac compressor cluch is good or should the cluch turn when i turn the ac on

You don't need freon if you activate the clutch manually by applying battery voltage to the connectors on the compressor. Normally, insufficient freon will prevent the clutch from activating because the system has a pressure switch that allows the clutch to be activated when the a/c is turned on. If there is insufficient freon, the pressure switch prevents the clutch from activating.
