has it been done? i just picked up a supercharged 383 for my camaro, which is now wrecked  so i have a nice stroked s/c'd 383 in my garage and nothing for it to go into... except the Z so i started thinking, maybe ill by a $300 honda/toyota for the summer and pull the engine on my z,

anyway i was just wondering if someone makes a xmember for the swap or if it would need to be a one off fab. and yes i know that i need a trans, bell housing, cut driveshaft, new rear, and MANYMANY other things, but i was just wondering if it has been done and is worth doing as a summer project.

i just think it would be badass to see a 300z tubed out with a huge wipple supercharger sticking out the hood tearing down the street

ps dont hate

my advice is sell the engine and use the money to further upgrade the z with its real Z engine in it... no use destroying a perfectly good z if you don't have to... then agian it's up to you.... seems like a lot of work to put something american into the z... but you know me... i hate anything american unless it's where it belongs...

Sounds great, I think a bugcatcher sticking out the bonnet of the z31 would fit right in with the styling. You could even jap-erize it if you wanted to with a nice fibreglass hood scoop. As for things like cross members and engine mounts, my advice is to get a shop to put the engine in for you. I don't mean get them to do the whole swap, just to mount the engine and tranny. They've got the engine hoist, the right tools, contacts with engineers, loads of space, experience etc. thats going to be needed for the most important part. It wont take them long and hence won't cost you as much as you probably think it would.
Then just get it home and start figuring out what you're going to need to do to finish it!

Good luck with the project!

I think you'd have one killer looking car that would command alot of respect. As for the rearend, the stock will work unless you plan on some serious drag racing.
I'll bet you can fine some guys here that can help you.
