The tick is common in the 93-97 Isuzu 3.2 not the +98 3.2/3.5L

Your tick may be due to:

1. Timing belt tensor (common, this should be replaced when you change the timing belt).

2. Spun rod bearing (bad; time for a rebuild; common on Isuzu's that are run low on oil).

My 93 Trooper with a V6 SOHC has the ticking noise as well. Most of the time just driving around town it isn't too loud, but lately after prolonged driving it gets quite loud. My wife even asked me what was up on our last trip out of town which was right after an oil change (20w-50). My mechanic said it might be caused from my oil pump being old and not able to keep an adequate pressure after being pushed. I wish I knew what it was for sure. Oh well.
