Misfire on Cylinder 2, changed coil, injector and plug...

Recently purchased a 2000 M Roadster. Soon there after the service engine soon, light came on. I bought a code reader and pulled three codes:

Misfire Detected, Cyl 2
Secondary air system flow too low, cyl 1-3
Secondary air system flow too low, cyl 4-6

I started by addressing the misfire, so I switched the spark plug, coil and injector with another cylinder. Then I reset the light. Few days later the light came back on again, and same codes....

How is this possible..? I was under the impression that only spark plug, coil and injector could be at fault. On the other hand coils and injectors have their own codes…

The symptoms are as follows: when the car sits overnight, and I start it up in the morning, it runs rough for about 10-20 seconds. After then it runs nice and smooth. I would guess it is during those 10-20 that the code is being detected.

What else should I check..?

TIA

Faulty air pump. The misfire should go away

somtimes your distibutor needs to be adjusted, my car would mis-fire, so i unscrewed the 2 nuts holding it, and moved it a tiny bit forward, and kept messing with it till my engine would stop

you might want to performe a cyl leak down test on cyl 2 and compare with 1 and 3 should not leak more than 10%

Ignition system should be changed or reset with new plug so that fire may not miss

He already swapped out his plugs and it still had the same misfire on the same cylinder. It didn't follow his plug to the other cylinder.

If the mixture was off from a faulty injector then you would have solved that when you swapped injectors.

Your only other things I can tell that could cause a misfire would be faulty plug wire or a damaged distributor. They are the two things that you didn't change.

Edit: Oh my dog!!! dude you revived a 3 year old topic, please check post dates when you reply to a topic.... that way the rest of us can avoid looking like idiots as well. :P

jus had a 7 series with this same issue. yes the pumps are at fault..due to carbon buildup. they help act as a egr control system. when carbon builds up it can and will cause a low flow issue.let some1 qualified to fix this problem handle it.some shops mat tell you they are not qualified. i know two that will strait up tell you.

One thing people overlook are the small micro basket filters that are installed in the top of most fuel injectors. Most BMW injectors have these filters and unless you look very closely you would not know it is there. You can see what they look like in this picture: http://www.bonanza.com/listings/BMW-Fuel-Injector-O-rings-Pintle-caps-filters/37189883

I have seen these fully or partially clogged probably as a result of the main fuel filter not being 100% efficient. The filters are pressed in slightly but are easy to remove. New ones are pressed in easily.

So tired of everyone overlooking the simple stuff...when you replaced your wires did you coat the boot with dielectric grease? Cost about $1.00 anywhere...probably your issue!
