PCM/Tranny 4T60e to 4T65e conversion....Help!!!Metal_m_a_n 05-06-2005, 01:40 PM Here's my situation: I have a 1995 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34 that currently has a 4T60e transmission in it. The trans is completely shot. I have plans of putting a supercharger in it and I realized I shouldn't put another junk 4T60e back in it cause that would just tear it up. So I purchased a 4T65e(out of a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix) which can be built to handle 1100 HP(not that I will reach anywhere near that). My problem is getting it to work in the car. The 4T65e will bolt up no prob, I just need new half-shaft's. Here's the ideas I have: 01.The 97 Monte had a 3.4DOHC like me and the 4T65e trans, so I might just be able to get the pcm outta that and put it in my car and make it work. The problems with that...Gear ratios, the security chip in the key and who know's what else. 02.Run two totally seperate PCM's...Keep the origional to control everything but the tranny then have a second for just the tranny and feed it an rpm line. The problem's with that... I don't know what all the pcm need's to have to shift right besides the rpm line??? But I think the origional PCM will be fine not being conected to the tranny cause I unhooked the major plug on top and it still ran fine just the check engine light came on. 03.Try to get a PCM that I can program to my need's. Haven't found anything like that though for my year...But if I could use a later model PCM and make it fit in my car somehow that would work as well.... Well guy's I hope someone can help me with this cause I am in way over my head as it is and I need some help. Metal_m_a_n 05-17-2005, 12:37 PM Well I found a solution....No help from anyone here....Just thought I would post it in case someone else wants to do the same thing. Here it is ( http://www.powertraincontrolsolutions.com/content-4.html ) It a totally seperate controller for any electronicly controlled trans any make of model as long as the trans is electronically controlled.... What I found out about my options... Option #1 was flawed becasue after 95 they used obdII which has all kinds of different connectors and it uses all new sensors too. So it is possible to do it like that you would just need to replace almost all the sensors and all the wiring and the pcm itself... Option #2 Just impossible from what I have read and from what people have told me. Option #3 The obdI which is what I have as well as any 95 or pre car has is very very limited as to what you can do with the programming and .bin files are hard to come by. But if you have obdII your in luck....Just about everyone and thier mother sells stuff to program that. I hope this will help anyone looking to do a tranny conversion like I am. My future plans with the car....Gonna put the 4t65e in when it is all rebuilt with performance parts....Then when I have the money I plan to buy a northstar(the 4.6L DOHC motor from cadilac's) Which makes about 300hp stock and with a supercharger easily does over 400...With a few other little mods I think it can do 450 no prob. And the best part of it all.....I can mate the 4T65E to it and use that with it. Which is good cause that's the trans with all the performance upgrades. Midstar 05-18-2005, 12:45 PM Here is a little info I found on the subject. I went though the same thing and I did a 5 speed swap. So now I am just getting around to getting my SES light to shut off. Don't get discuraged about getting any info. I have been slowly searching for different things for my car. You just have to ask the right questions to the right people. http://dtcc.cz28.com/fiero/transbypass.htm Jason vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
