I am attempting to change the fuel filter on my '99 Malibu myself because the mechanic I took it to said my fuel lines were rusted pretty badly and he didnt want to touch it.. I have sprayed it with penetrating oil about 5 times over the past 2 weeks... Anyone have any good advice on how to get it off without breaking the lines?

You should be alright. I think it takes a 5/8 and a 9/16 or a 1/2 but it might also take a 12 mm. You should not have much of a problem. But if you live ip north with salt etc., you should wash the underside of the car after winter every year.

if the line doesn't seem to break lose, hold the line in place and turn the fuel filter. this will only work if one side is a quick disconnect fitting. If both sides have the threaded fitting, and you can get one side undone, then u can also turn the filter and hold the line still. and whatever you do, don't heat up the lines! lol
