1993 chevy caprice questions?arh22 05-04-2005, 12:59 PM i just bought a 1993 chevy caprice and having a couple problems with it. One thing is that it has a oil leak and they said that it is a main cell. How long does it take to repair and does it cost alot. Another thing is that i am getting bad gas milege. i am getting 10 or 12 miles per gallon. Can you tell me what i need to change or fix. Also sometimes you have to push hard on the gas to make it go. Can you hep me on that too. i dont know much about cars!! 1986Z28 05-04-2005, 02:09 PM just give me the car and buy a honda, that would solve your problems.. HLandin 05-06-2005, 07:48 AM We need more information to go on. Is that city or highway mileage? Have you tried a fuel induction cleaning service or using a bottle of Sea Foam? arh22 05-06-2005, 09:22 AM that is city miles? and what is sea foam? are you very familar with 93 chevy carpices? Gearhead406350 05-06-2005, 11:04 AM just give me the car and buy a honda, that would solve your problems.. :evillol: That was a very clever one and that would work quite well if you like honda's. Arh you should try changing your spark plugs. You should also run an fuel injector cleaner through it. HLandin 05-06-2005, 02:19 PM Other than Sea Foam, what would you recommend as far as an injector cleaner? For some info on Sea Foam, check out the following page: http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm Basiclly, what I understand its designed to clean everything. arh22 05-06-2005, 02:47 PM is there anything else that needs to be done to the car than just fuel injector? also when i press on the gas it is hard to push the gas on throughto make the car go. 91Caprice9c1 05-08-2005, 02:18 AM Check the Base Timing to see that it is set properly. My caprice lagged a lot until i diagnosed a severe retardation in the ignition. To check/set base timing you will need to by-pass the ECU by disconnecting a wire harness near the EGR Valve - You will know if you've disconnected the right harness by the difference in Idle RPM. It is a three (3) pin harness. Check the timing with an inductive timing light and set the Base Timing to 0° (by the book) or give it a couple degrees advance if you want to experiment. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
