Hope there are some good mechanics out there to answer some questions for me.. I just replaced the clutch in my '95 V6 4X4 runner. What a B!tch of a job!!

Everything went smoothly after lots of cussing. I got a new clutch kit (clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, etc) from Car Quest and had the flywheel resurfaced. Everything is back together and I have a few questions.

1. THe clutch pedal feels extremely soft now. It certainly fully disengages/engages and feels smooth along the way. It just feels too soft. I did not pull the lines from the hydraulic slave cylinder assembly when I pulled the tranny (I just pulled the two bolts off the side of the tranny and slid it out of the way). As a precaution, I flushed and bled the slave cylinder. This did not help things out.

Pedal pressure/feel was very good before doing this project. Last night, I pulled the cylinder off of the transmission by removing the two bolts. I was moving the clutch fork back and fourth, and it feels very loose. I would expect it to be tighter.

I can not figure out whats wrong here, unless I installed the clutch plate backwards. Any suggestions here?

How should the clutch fork feel when the hydraulic assembly is removed?? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!

Welcome to the AF!

I can't answer your question directly, but I have never had a clutch that would move that easily by hand. The only thing I can think of is they gave you the wrong or defective pressure plate.
