Since it's a carbureted model, I'd think more along the lines of checking the accelerator pump - sounds like it's not getting enough gas off the line. BlazerLT 05-01-2005, 07:25 PM PCV Valve? The Timgin should be checked seeing it could be retarded which could be allowing the engine to run too rich which would cause the studdering. biv343 05-01-2005, 08:18 PM PCV valve is a maintanence thing. Not a bad idea to change it, but I doubt it would cause the symptoms he described. You could be onto something with the timing. The timing generally won't change on it's own (unless some pretty severe timing chain slack is going on). It could be advance related, but I don't even remember if those distributors have advance weights or not. It's been too long since I've dug into one of those 2.8 L engines. Then again, on a 20 year old vehicle, it could be a number of things, such as a vacuum leak, dying carburetor, etc. My 85 S-10 has started dropping it's fair share of parts over the past few years, not due to high mileage, just old age. BlazerLT 05-01-2005, 11:13 PM Timing can go out of adjustment over time. The PCV valve can cause a idle and driveability problem if it is stuck open and not regulating the PCV gas properly. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
