I need to change the battery in our caravan but I am worried that it will mess other things up. Should I be aware of anything? TIA!

Usually not much to worry about , I would make sure the heater blower is set to the off position before disconecting . Sometimes after changeing the battery the climate panel will go into flash mode and you might have to fix that , but someone here can run you thru that .

You should also be aware that the computer will go through a learning period when you first start the car after installing the new battery. The idle will be erratic for a few minutes. If you have an antitheft device that may need to be reset before the van will start. You will also have a trouble code stored that the power was disconnected lasting 50 Key-On cycles (MIL code 12) but the check engine lamp will not come on. Baking soda is an excellent cleaner and reduces corrosion. I find the cable clamps stiff-may need to pry them open a little and then gently pry them off.
