another xanavi z!

I've cutout the bonnet.
Going to build a vq30dett..
took me quite a while to find some reference pics of engine bay..

found really good ones on jgtc usa site, got them,
next day they put up a new site and all their pics are gone except for 1 pic each of each team.

Good luck with it i'm going to keep my eye on this thread, i know what you mean man, too much stuff too little time, i could barely keep up with this hobby with a job, school, and other things that come up. Looking good, motor should look chunky.

Keep it up! It would draw my attention as I love to see if anyone would modify the front engine for the Nismo Z.
Keep posting progress pictures :p

mic329 - your z looks pretty sweet!

i made up a dummy engine to test fit into the "engine bay"

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/274703IMGP4374.jpg

In this pic i'm using a VG30DETT engine block and timing cover with some mockup bits like the crappy intake plenum and the intake pipework.

I will scratch build the VQ30DETT block, cam covers, timing cover plenum etc...

I had to remove the screw holder on the diecast chassis to make way for the block... Will work out what happens to the suspension later.

I've already made up some coilover shocks for the engine bay.

I've got too many models and too much to do!!! :grinyes:

Out of focus pic of coilover :disappoin
It was the only one I could find at the time.

It was originally for my Enzo but as you can see it is incorrect.

i have begun building the block, timing cover. Though I realise I dont need too much detail of the block or even the timing cover because it wont be seen.

Thank you for your comment, Fusionrr ^_^

For your Nismo Z, you have a good progress so far. Awaiting to see the engine bay with full detail.

BTW, do you consider to open up the real cowl?

"BTW, do you consider to open up the real cowl?"

Where abouts? I haven't really looked at the entire model yet.

I noticed in my reference pictures the bonnet vents are quite different. I was working out the duct pipes underneath the hood. Any chance nismo has changed their bonnet?

this is one ambitioius task puting a motor in there, looks like you definatly have the skills to do it, good luck

Started to work out clearances, where the motor should sit exactly.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/274703IMGP4440.jpg

Poor photo - not much to see anway.

The coil packs on the cam covers are too big - they will be cut down.
That whole assembly is yet to be detailed etc.

I'm currently working on the intake plenum as it is the most visible part of the engine. I notice from my reference pics that it has changed over the years. It used to be quite narrow for the r34 and now it is much wider, flatter and incorporates the intake pipework.

I'm undecided on whether or not to bother with the very low mounted turbos - on second thoughts i may as well. After all I am builidng the engine and that is the idea..

enough ramblings.

thanks for reading :iceslolan
