iv been wanting to make a tube famed drag car for a while so i decided to make one with a supra. these are just quick test fitting pictures to get this thread going. im hoping for this to be a very detailed kit. the part i think i will fail in is the detailing of the turbo and rest of the motor. i have tried many times to scrach build turbo but none have come out very realistic.

Looks like a cool project. Turbos a plumbing perplex me too. Doesn't that engine have a turbo on it?

the motor i am using is the 2JZ from the supra kit. it will have one large turbo. the pulbing is not a problem for me but making the turbo look realistic is what if hard.

ya, i ditched the Titan motorsports idea beacuse i didnt feel i could replicate the body, interior and motor accuratly. so i will be making my own style car.

looks good. for the turbo. you migh try hitting up home depot and going to the electical departmtment andpicking up some crimp splice caps. they would make a good base for a large turbo for drag application. they have a flared end so it would resemble the "flute" they put on the intake side of the turbo. just a though. then you could make the compresser and exhaust housings with some wound plumbing solder. this is just a mock up i threw together real quick to give you an idea.

thanks, i have made turbos before with the top of a pen clicker and solder, its just i dont think they look very good. i also have no other way of making them so i will end up using that style blower on this car.

yeah, they aren't exactly scale masterpeices. but hey, if its not going into a contest it should serve its purpose well. a little putty work and they could be quite nice

hey, iv got alot of progress done, but still a lot more left. i have the motor, turbo, pipeing and IC done, but i might redo them beacuse im not to happy with the result. one thing i am happy with is the stance. for the wheels im using the stock ones form the AMT supra and the slicks and wheels from the Revell Duster. i dont think the rear wheels fit the style of the car but i dont have anything else to use. if u can make out in the rear tire, there is a "wrinkle" like a low pressure slick. i still need to scuff them up.

i got down 2 coats of gloss red and 2 coats of transparent candy apple red. it still need some detail like the headlights, hood and windows painted and clear. i would have taken outdoor pics but its dark and ranining outside. the indoor pics make it look like the paint is not smooth but it id and its reflecting pictures on the wall and plants outside.

Looks good! I'll get you the pics you requested today, been very busy lately. Here's a suggestion for a turbo. Buy a Tamiya Nissan 300Z with the twin turbo engine. That kit has is the most realistic in-scale turbos around, and the kit should be less than $18 USD.

that color is very hot! I've got one molded in orange, and it hurts my eyes everytime I stare at it. Bad choice of mold color...I prefer white.

the problem is, in reality with a turbo that big you'd have massive lag, it's not my model but that turbo just looks to big to me, it might look different when finished but it is kinda unrealistic.
