why would my car slave so much with heat or a/c onchevyn0va1 04-27-2005, 02:40 PM Again im not used to little cars and this may be nothing but my car sure seems to slave more when I have the heater or a/c on (for example when raining out with lights on defroster and defogger running) the car sure seems to slave when you put all these on is that normal for a little car or is my alt. not pushing enough current to recharge? f150gt 04-27-2005, 08:15 PM I think it is somewhat normal as I have a '97 Escort 5 spd. 2.0L and on the function switch, everything to the right of off except the foot area runs the compressor and especially with the air on , when the compressor kicks on you can really feel the car drag. Although with my '93 Tracer 1.9L auto, I don't remember feeling it nearly as much. daleb9 04-28-2005, 05:31 AM I experience a definite loss of power when I turn the air on, no change with the heater/defroster. cougarman 04-28-2005, 11:41 PM The a/c does come on when your selector is set on defrost or def/floor This helps dry the incoming air to assist on defogging the windows. With a 4 cylinder your really feel it whenever the a/c compressor cycles on. But when you pass someone at full throttle, the a/c does shut down to give you that extra passing power,, but you have to floor it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
