When you bought your car, did you have the urge to grow a mullet?

Why did you buy a V8? everyone knows v6's are just as fast.

Very good question! Actually, after I bought the car..the mullet just sorta started growing itself. I couldn't stop it. At first..I noticed the top getting boxy. Then..the back just started getting longer and longer. And here I am. With a mullet that would put Billy Ray Cyrus' to shame.

 that just slayed me right there...oh geez. Whew!

Also, what were you on. X? LSD? Shrooms? Or just flat out high?. If I remember correctly, you are getting rid of everything right? What pushed you towards you decision to go LS1. Was it envy? The fact that you just might now get those 11's you were hoping for? Or just pure love for them?

So are you still planning the s/c'er or is that plan canceled since you have decided on coming to the dark side (GM, lol)?

Or has the F-body plan fell through??

Bitchin'. I hope my Camero does that. :)

Anyways, a real question about your car. Is that time you ran, a typical time for a stock GT?

F-body plan is no more. After discussing with the girlfriend..she said I should keep the mustang and continue with my supercharger plan instead of going with a catfish or batmobile. My friend is quite dissapointed that he's no longer getting a vortech kit for $2500 complete.

dampachi
04-27-2005, 12:37 AM
14.6@97mph is a very very very typical time for a stock 99+ gt mustang.

I bought a mustang because I've always liked mustangs/it's a nice looking car/i could afford it/had low miles on it/it's relatively quick stock/it has a huge aftermarket/and it's just a good fun car to drive.

dampachi
04-27-2005, 12:41 AM
I plan to go 11s on drag radials and a smidge over 400rwhp very easily. As I just watched a very similarly equipped 01 GT mustang that put down 430rwhp go 11.5s on drag radials.

Suspension mods will be very minor seeing as how the suspension on these cars is already decent. At the most I'll do LCAs, springs, shocks, and sturts. Well..maybe UCAs too.

Supercharger goes in after full exhaust, built rear, and after I put my satin cobra rims on. Mid to late summer.

I bet if you cut your hair you would lose about 100 lbs right here.

dampachi
04-27-2005, 12:48 AM
Hopefully no more run ins with the law.

And no, no weight saving. I didn't even take out the spare or anything when I went to the track. aluminum driveshaft will probably be the only weight saving mod. And I think I can cut 1.7s with my drag radials. If not..I'll just have to use M/T streets. I know I can run 11s with those.

Well, good luck with it all, but I'd set my goals for low 12s that way you won't be disappointed if you don't break into the 11s. But that's just me.

dampachi, do you think you'll stop at 430rwhp?

CivRacer95
04-27-2005, 12:56 AM
You're gonna run a 12 flat. When I hear that, I'm going to shit my pants in total and utter laughter. But, you are very confident you are going to hit those 11's. Please, bring a camera or camcorder with you. It will be very hard to prove otherwise if you don't. And when you do hit those 11's, I'll be one of the first to kiss your ass.

dampachi
04-27-2005, 12:57 AM
Nope. This is going to be a 10 second car. After I run my share of 11 second passes and that gets old..the motors coming out to be rebuilt. heads/cams/pistons/rods/crank/intake. then the boost will be upped.

dampachi
04-27-2005, 12:59 AM
Don't worry. I'll have video/pictures/timeslips to prove it. But yeah..I'm gonna cry when I run 12.000. Well actually..I'd just run out to the nearest shop and grab a 75mm throttle body. Bolt that sucker up and go run my 11 second pass.

BTW: Did anyone even watch my video? :(

chevytrucks92
04-27-2005, 01:06 AM
LOL. Well 11.999 is still 11s! lol.

Even though it'll only be as a joke, you're going to catch alot of shit if you dont run 11.999 though! lol.

we ended up crossing the finish line at about the sametime. he napped. his .900 R/T to my .516.

CivRacer95
04-27-2005, 01:20 AM
I've heard of some people getting below a .500 R/T. What does that mean if they do. Is it a fault, or does that mean better than perfect? Yes, I'm a noob when it comes to this, and I just experienced my first time at the track this year.

dampachi
04-27-2005, 01:21 AM
below a .500 means you red light. :) which means you went too soon.

CivRacer95
04-27-2005, 01:22 AM
Yeah, I just thought about that after I already made the post. Meh...I wish I actually got some figures from my first time I went. It would of been nice to have something to show for it all.

Nope, all they could do was announce it. So I never knew. Kris was the one who had to tell me what I ran, but I dunno, I think he's lying to me :iceslolan . But really, what he told me is what I believe I did. It was a ghetto track. Good for practicing, bsing, and just hanging out and seeing some of the other cars in action. It was a fun trip.

Some tracks .000 is perfect. I think most NHRA member tracks use this, and some IHRA member tracks do as well.

Either way, most every track uses the .500 competition tree.

Where I race .500 is perfect. My best reaction time is .501. I do get to use a trans. brake, delay box, and two-step however.

Damp, that .516 is very impressive, especially for coming off the foot brake.

How are you getting the 430whp numbers?

Vortech only advertises 364hp 371tq... that'd be close to 320whp.

Even with full exhaust and a larger throttlebody, you're looking at a max of 350-360whp.

In the Summit Catalog they state 364hp, 371tq.
http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=VOR-4FL218-050SQ&x=0&y=0&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp

Where ya getting the extra oomph?

dampachi
04-27-2005, 02:20 AM
I was just at a dyno day where a full exhaust 8 psi vortech car put down 430rwhp/410rwtq. But I think he had tb/upper intake plenum. I used to think I'd only be putting down around 350rwhp blown..but then I actually saw the cars in person and was surprised. Awhile back I made a post on stangnet.com about this. Just a generic 'how much hp would this make'. I'll see if I can find it.

dampachi
04-27-2005, 02:22 AM
I couldn't find the post..but I did find this in some random member signature..

2002 Yellow GT , Vortech S-Trim Supercharger w/custom dyno tune, C&L 85 mm MAF, C&L Intake Plenum, MAC 70 mm throttle body, MAC off-road Prochamber H-Pipe, Magnaflow Cat-Back exhaust, 3.73 gears, Roush Stage 3 suspension system, 31-Spline heavy duty axles, Ford Motorsport heavy duty rear end, Mac subframe connectors, Hurst "Billit Plus" short-throw shifter w/ T-handle. Autometer Boost,& Air/Fuel Pillar Guages, 5" Monster Tach w/Shift Light. Valentine-1 Radar Detector. 406.7 rwhp.

-The Stig-
04-27-2005, 02:33 AM
I just have a hard time believing that going from 260hp stock... or about 220whp.

To 430whp from just 8psi of boost and full exhaust, TB and MAF. That's 200whp jump. Albeit a very expensive jump, but still I just find hard to believe.

That would be a fun race between the S/C mustang and the turbo 3G. It wouldn't be worth your gas to run me now. I dont think I'll be too close to hitting 11's but I should be decent (hopefully around mid 12's on some good tires). It'd be enough just to hear your car open up. As much as I like imports there's nothing like the sound of a blown v8.

It's all in the 5" tach with shift light...and the radar detector :icon16:

So damp...I got a question...what makes your stang special enough to get its own 4 page thread :grinno:
jk, glad to see you got plans, but I am with Redneck on this one...I still a bit skeptical over those numbers...

-Jayson-
04-27-2005, 11:14 AM
yeah those numbers dont make sense at all. Turbos can make 10HP per PSI. Now for shits and giggles lets say it can make 10hp Per PSI, but realistically it will be closer to 8. So you get 80 HP out of that supercharger. That will only put you at 340 crank HP. If it happens sweet stuff, but my money is on making less than 340HP with the vortec.
