A tip that can save your project

I saw on these threads a couple times peoples projects are being ruined for reasons like paint leaking from clear parts making it look horible and ruining it. I my self also came across this problem but i found a way to fix it just put witeout plus from bic with the spongy tip over the item let it dry than just simply paint over it. I had my whole back of my civic ruined like this but this simply fixed it. I hope my tip works good luck.

i meant white out from bic with the spongy tip you know the thing you cover the mistakes you made on paper.

There are proper masking compounds that will I imagine will do the job better than whiteout. In fact some 'Liquid Paper' formulations use quite hot solvents, which could damage plastic and paint so be cautious.

well its better than ruining your model i did get a little bit of lummps when i used it widely but those came off. but i like goig the cheap way. I usually use stuff that you can find at home

Oh, okay. So you mean using it as some type of filler? I though you were suggesting using it as a mask.

I think he means that when you make a mistake with paint (for example, if you're doing a two-tone, and paint bleeds under the tape) you can use white out to... white out the mistake, then paint over it with the correct color. Am I right?

Wouldn't the 'white out' ruffen up the surface? In result that you'll have to resand it again..

why not just paint over the screw up with the colour intended? i think that the white out would make it look even worse....

You need to provide some pictures, no-one knows what you are on about. Anyway, wouldn't it be easier to sand back the screwed-up area, and paint over it again? :screwy:

yes willmo thats what i mean like if paint bleeds on tailights i painted over it with white out than painted the color i want over it. Although the tailights not clear anymore it looks good.

TheBenzon

im talking about small areas. Detail areas for example tailights windshield wipers etc.

Why doesnt anyone get it ? He explained it fine in the first thread. If you mess up then you can use White-Out to cover it up and then repaint it.

I wouldnt use this method though, i'd rather sand, mask, and (prime) repaint.

but i got what your technique was

whew, sorry guy, I haven't seen a flaming on this forum in a good long time.

but...white out....????

I can't say that this would be a GREAT idea, but if it works for you, then more power to ya!!!

don't let this thread get you down, we ALL have had ideas that just don't work out. but yours worked out for you, and that's all that matters.
