just bought a 96 ls and it came with 17 wheels. Although they look great and give a little extra ground clearance I have heard that every inch in diamiter added is like adding 200 lbs. So I have a 400 lb fat man in my car everywhere I go. I also notice that breaking doesn't seem to be all that great. I don't have the money right now to get new wheels but am I stressing the engine or tranny at all with these larger wheels?

Please... It's more like 2,000 pounds.

No, Roughly each pound in motion will equal about 8 static pounds.
The size just makes it harder to accelerate. The best example I’ve heard to describe it is a figure skater spinning. When she brings her hands in, she spins faster.
