purchasing a car...skinny 04-07-2002, 05:39 AM hello, i am continuing my search for a new, well, used car for myself. here is my scenario: i am just getting into this import/racing scene and think that a civic would be a good choice for my first car of this hobby. hopefully i can sell my truck for around 10k. what would you guys suggest, either getting a newer, say 96, maybe 97 ex and just adding i/h/e and some body mods, or going with an older car and doing the engine swap. right now, i think that i would just like a car in the high 15's, but i have a feeling that once i am into this, i am gonna want to make it as fast as i can. hopefully that all made sense. keep in mind that i live in SoCal, so everything will be a little more expensive. p.s.- nikon, thank you for your help also. im just gonna see what everyone else has to say too thanks again sparq 04-07-2002, 10:22 AM Cali??? If you can get 10k together from your truck, and maybe scrounge up some more dough look for an 99-00 SI. It'll cost you but you have a great platform with a great engine to start with. It may be hard, but if I were you I'd look for one as stock as possible. You do what you will, without having to pay for someone else's previous mistakes.
