I have a 87 4x4 pickup with the 22r engine and 5 speed tranny. I have a chance to buy a 1981 toyota wagon(no clue what model it is) with a 22r in it. i looked at a clutch kit on ebay adn they are for 84-88's. since i am trying to put a 81 engine in a 87 truck...what clutch kit sould i get, and what is the difference??
thank you very much for your help

Your clutch will not be your problem when you try to convert this. You will run into wiring and possible engine mount issues. In 1983, Toyota changed their configuration with wiring, emisions, and mount design. The engine mount concern deals with the fact of the engine you're getting is from the Toyota Cornet which had a different engine configuration. But as for the clutch, in 1984, Toyota came out with the "Five Speed Manual Transmission" (replacing the old four speeds) which limits the clutch kit to 84-88 model years. So, out of those conserns, I suggest that you get a engine from your age bracket because I know you will run into alot of problems.

Your centerforce is great dude but we are talking about the 2.4L 22r L4 not the 3.0 V6. Your problem is going to be transmission-engine combo. I can almost say, "Without a doubt, this won't work." I hope you take what I say into consideration unlike others who are off topic.
