'96 Taurus Trans Cooler Line Removal-Radiatorideasman 04-24-2005, 02:42 PM I have the Haynes Manual that refers to a "special tool" for removing lines from radiator. It doesn't show the tool, but the auto parts store said it should be same as tool used for fuel line connections. What I have is a plastic split cylinder with flange that slips over the line. You then push it in to release the plastic retainer, but I can't get line loose. Can anyone describe the tool needed and what I need to do to remove the line? Wodinator 04-24-2005, 02:57 PM that is the correct tool. You need to really help work it in tho'. I just did the cooler lines, and it took us well over an hour to finally break the damn line free from the radiator. Wodinator 04-24-2005, 02:58 PM oh yeah, make sure you are using the right size, that makes the difference. beagle9 10-30-2005, 03:10 PM that is the correct tool. I am working on a Taurus my wife owns, and I am trying to get the radiator out of the car. I see that it comes out through the bottom of the car. Ok I have reached the trans lines and can barely get my hands near these lines. I bought this tool also the other hand was referring to. The half opening, color coded, for size tool. It has helped me none so far because I can barely get my hand in around these areas much less the tool with it. I took a phillips screw driver and got a little clamp off that was seemingly holding the line into the radiator maybe. The line seems loose going into the radiator fitting, but when I try and put presure on it to get it to come loose or out, it won't move. I now wonder what is the way that this line is actually attached???? Any help would be appreciated.. beag vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
