what we gottwitch24 04-24-2005, 04:33 AM alright, i know i have had my car for a while, and i am hardcore KA24DE-T, but alot of people were talking shit about the KA motor and telling me the only way to make my car fast, was to swap a SR20 in to it, at this point, i was laughing at everyone telling them that all they have to do is wait, and finnaly 6 months after i got my car,91 240sx coupe DOCH 5 speed, i have got my turbo setup together, so now that i have spent some $$ on this stuff, all of my friends are still like "u wont run any faster than a hi 13 of low 14", id like to hear what u guys have to say about this heres the list 1)B.D. stage 2 kit-57 trim 2)clutch spec stage 3 from B.D. also 3)full exhaust from B.D.(as u can tell by now i really like their stuff) 4)enthalpy tuned ecu 5)B&M shifter 6)gage pod 7)boost gage 8)oil pressure gage 9)j30 LSD 10)z32 mafs and thats all i can think of now, is have to go check everything right now,id like to get some feedback on this from u guys, what u thinking it is g gonna run??? orestes 04-24-2005, 06:26 AM what about injectors? what size injectors are you going to have running with your Enthalpy tune that makes a big difference. i would say faster than a high 13 though. but again it can totally vary you need to be more specific. P.S. #'s 6-8 are just gauges ("gages") and #9 is a cheap solution that will cost you 1/10ths of seconds. driftking777 04-24-2005, 09:47 AM well the setup seems to be pretty good but i personally think you'll be running about as fast as a sr20 (not just being bias'd) but with out injectors and running stock boost...im thinking you'll hit around 225 whp'ish...so thats as fast as my sr20...and my motor is still stock. but you add some more boost and you'll blow away any sr motor with the same boost level, and get some injectors atleast some 550's...other wise your pretty much going to be be running lean. driftking777 04-24-2005, 09:49 AM btw that should all result in atleast a around a 13.5 1/4...id say atleast that TatII 04-24-2005, 01:13 PM yeah the info without the injectors dont' tell anything really. and what psi are you running? that also is a big factor. if you have the proper fuel setup you should be able to run 14 psi on that turbo. with 14 psi that should be a high 12 second car. without the proper fuel, running small 370cc injectors, 9 psi is the safe limit with that i would have to say high 13's. also your friends are talkin all this smack about high 13's being slow. what do they drive? s13dr1fter 04-24-2005, 01:19 PM Well if he is running the stage 2 kit from B.D. it comes with 52lb injectors. SR's stock only runs on 370cc injectors. those maxes out at 250ish whp, thats also when your turbo and maf maxes out. so bottom line, a SR with all the bolt ons will yeld you 250whp if your lucky. the average whp i see on SR's with bolt's running 14 psi is 220-230whp. if teh SR has the same whp as a KA, the KA-T would win becsaue we have more tq. also we have larger turbo. most KA-T kits have T4's which are good for 400+ hp. so we will out flow that T25 anyday of the week. i've raced a S14 with a S14 SR running a T28, intake, exhuast, tubular turbo manifold running 10 psi and i beat him on the top end when i was only running 7 psi with a smaller intercooler on stock injectors with a FMU. i've also known a few people making 300whp on bone stock block KA-T's running 13 psi. the Boostdesign kit willc ome with everything you need to make that kind of whp. all your missing is the Z MAF. for the SR to even make anything near 300whp they need to change the injectors, need a ECU tune or a piggyback, a Z maf and the all important upgraded turbo. that will cost another $3000 on top of your $4000 swap. my :2cents: D-Bo 04-26-2005, 03:09 PM and that is why i want to ka-t orestes 04-26-2005, 03:43 PM im trying to hook myself up with a deal through a friend of a friend type thing who can maybe get me a redtop SR with no turbo no intercooler just the engine, transmission, and wiring harness. if i can get that for a good price i would want to go SR because you are upgrading the turbo anyways so it would probably work out to be the same to what i would get from a KA with my funds. still gotta think about it though.
