Ok, here is my question. When using Plastigauge, my Chiltons says to remove all oil from the bearings before tightening the cap, but wouldnt that increase the chance of scratching a new bearing ? Additionally, I am doing this with the motor in the car, and not on a stand. I know before putting it all back together I'm supposed to use a heavy weight oil to coat the bearings with for initial startup / oil pressure buildup ? Any thing outside of Kurt Metro's site and Chilton's that I should know about? Thanks.

The reason they say this is you might not get correct torque due to hydralic pressure. That said, I would coat the bearing with oil of some sort. We used to use stp for new engines after plastiagage.
