urban legend or truth?

i buy cars often and either pass them around or drive them myself. i have stayed far away from saturns because i've heard there is plastic parts in the engines and these parts fail often. thinking about it it seems like myth but considering how many times and from differant people i've heard this just been avoiding them. figure this might be a good place to ask. thank you

I'm not aware of any plastic parts in the internals of the engine, I like saturns, but didn't too much before I got one,
Now that I have one, I'd buy another,

total myth, they definitally dont build em like they used to, but there's no more plastic under the hood of a saturn than any other cars, worked on many in the past.

And besides that all The GM 4 cylindr vehicles bar the Aveo have the 2.2 ecotec motor now, and the only real problem i've had with these are coil packs

The earlier Saturn engines are as tough as any engine known to man. There are NO plastic parts INSIDE. They even use a chain instead of a belt for timing. While a bit noisy, the chain is MUCH stronger than any belt. We don't see Saturn engines for rebuild unless they have well over 200K miles.
For some odd reason, resale value of these cars is next to nothing. Dollar for dollar? Best car on the planet.
