I have a 1995 Monte Carlo that I bought about 1 1/2 months ago..
I was checking my fluids as I do once a week, well I was checking my oil and I could smell gas. Well, I called a mechanic and he told me to change my oil and that I probably flooded my car. So I changed my oil, well I checked my oil 2 days later to make sure everything was okay. Well, I smelled gas in my oil again.

So I brought my car into Mills Auto Center and had a mechanic look at it. He told me that my car was running as it was suppose to and that there was no gas in my oil.. Well, i just checked my oil again and I can smell the gas again. I had a few friends of mine smell the oil too and they told me that they smelt the gas too!

I dont know what it causing this, but if anyone can help me I would REALLY apprechiate it because this is my only car right now and I cant afford not to drive it.

THANKS AGAIN! :)

Also, my car has a 3.1 L V6 and it only has 87000 miles on it..

I'd suggest replacing the PCV valve and drive it a couple days. Do you drive any on the highway or just short trips? No real connection between the gas circuit and the oil on these cars.

I drive mostly on shorter trips...

Do you know how much it would run to replace the PCV valve?

Generally the valve is three or four dollars. Hooks to a mid sized hose that goes to the valve cover. Looks like this with the hose off. About 1 inch diameter.
