2000 Trooper Alternator ConcernsLEM 04-22-2005, 06:54 AM I started this new thread becasue it seems to be a separate subject from EGR cleaning and oil usage. In a previous post I mentioned that I had changed out my alternator and battery last summer. Since then, but not immediately after, the CEL has been blinking as I described in the previous post titled, "2000Trooper - Intermitten Blinking CEL!!!!". The last reply I received from amigo-2K indicated that there may be issues with aftermarket alternators' voltage regualtion and suggested I do a search for such information in this and other forums. Well, I tried and couldn't find anything. Okay, I admit, I'm not the most internet or forum saave person. So, could someone help me out with this? How do I do a forum search, other than just scrolling through the thead titler? Where can I find more information about alternators for 2000 Isuzu Troopers? If I take it to an Autozone or Advance and have the electrical system checked, will they be able to tell me anything? What should I be looking for anyhow? What are some telltale signs that my voltage regualtion may not be right? Thanks much for all your help. Still don't think this is your problem as you are not reporting your problem started with the new alternator, a drained battery over time, worse symptoms (e.g. stange dash lights) with time. But no doubt I could be wrong. Browndog 04-27-2005, 05:51 AM Try these forums, they have heaps of info, but you have to be quick to keep up sometimes: http://www.4x4wire.com/forums Scroll down to Isuzu. The Tech Talk moves slower, but the Isuzu 4x4 & SUV Talk moves quicker. Good Luck. LEM 04-27-2005, 06:53 AM I checked my records and discovered that I didn't purchase the alternator at a chain auto parts store; I had to go through a specialty alternator/generator store and I did get a factory alternator. I remember that Isuzu has a special voltage regulator in their alternators and for some reason Autozone/Advance didn't stock them; they showed it as a dealer item. Anyway, since I changed the plugs, no CEL, but I want to give it more time before I declare a victory. Thanks for all the replies. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
