I've been trying to use the search on this forum but so far have been far from successful. The check engine light has recently come on and stayed on on my 1991 Isuzu Rodeo. I found a page somewhere that says how to get the code without buying a reader (jump two wires behind the left hand kick panel) but I can't for the life of me figure out where the wires are to do that. Can someone point me to directions or give them to me on how to do this? If it's not possible can you point me to the correct code reader to buy? I called Napa and the moron I talked to said they don't make one. I believe I saw I need to use one for imports before ODBII but I'm not sure.

TIA

If you have an autozone in your area they will read the codes for free.

Look for the two wires shown, plug them in together, and turn the key on without starting the engine.
Or connect a jumper wire between the two pins on the top right of the black connector showing. Both of these on my 91 were behind the box and under the carpet towards the firewall. You can search at autozone.com for the codes.
