Is that hood scoop functional? 91 Celica St 04-19-2005, 11:18 PM yes it is, i cut a hole about 15 inches long and about 8 inches wide...i didnt mold the scoop tho i tried but it kept craking , if osmeone would have even touched the hood the body filler would have cracked so i opted not to do it blakscorpion21 04-20-2005, 06:39 PM looks real nice i know i hate that gay ass striping on the sides i wanna take mine off when i get a paintjob. what size wheels r those 17s? vantheu 04-20-2005, 11:15 PM Hey, is that paint job from a one day? It looks great! How much? 91 Celica St 04-21-2005, 01:32 AM was going to be $1200 but i know a guy that wroked there so i got it labor cost free cuz he owed me for helping him sway his jetta about 6 months ago, it was only $300, but i spent about $50 on bondo and primer, i had a few dents form some beaner hitting it :( and no it was a 2 day job, and no there 16 tires are 205-50-16 smbius 04-21-2005, 01:50 AM oo shiny. Is that hood scoop functional? Please tell me that it cools a intercooler and not just let air into the engine. Vip09 04-21-2005, 01:57 AM Please tell me that it cools a intercooler and not just let air into the engine. My hood scoop helps out A LOT with the engine bay's ambient temp. Keeps cool air moving through. Car looks sweet man! SigmaProjects 04-21-2005, 03:20 AM I asked since sometimes a hood scoop can be anti productive since it can create higher air preasure in the engine bay making the air that comes through your radiator work harder. That's why most race cars unless it has a direct spot to exit or is funtional towards the air intake, will just luver the hood in places. 91 Celica St 04-21-2005, 04:24 PM yeah a hood scoop can actually create pressure at the top of the enigne and not allow cold air go go under the car because it just gets pushed away byu teh air from the hood scoop...but its still work now my temp went from about 180-190 toa bout runnig at 170 under the hood... and no intercooler, yet ;) SigmaProjects 04-22-2005, 01:30 AM that's coo, I think I'll luver mine when I get another celica. Damn papers didn't have the years I wanted =/ but still looking =) PittsburghCeli 04-23-2005, 12:36 AM Looks good except for I am thinking that weather stripping is going to crack and peel in the future. SigmaProjects 04-23-2005, 05:08 AM what weather stripping are you talking about? PittsburghCeli 04-23-2005, 11:03 AM ...The weather stripping around the windshield and doors. Paint on rubber tends to crack and peel after a while. Is that the original color? I am going to paint my car the original metalic gray in my garage soon. Right now I have white fenders I bought used and a new bumper that needs paint as well as the rest of the car. I am waiting to get a carbon fiber hood before I paint so I won't have to paint that piece and I was also going to take the bumper and fenders off to paint it and that should making painting a piece of cake. Painting it the original color will help with making a better paint job because I won't have to worry about stuff like door jams and other nooks and crannys being a different color. I never painted a car but when I thought about just painting each piece separately, like one fender at a time, one door and rear side, the roof, the trunk, I know I can paint each section perfectly and when you do it yourself it's going to be a better more caring job than a professional, not to mention cheaper. A pro may be able to do the actual paint spraying better than a beginner but it's really not that tough. The rest is just grunt work. If anyone has any tips for painting, I would appreciate it. As far as the cracking and peeling goes on that weather stripping, I would maybe try to make it last by not touching it with anything or I would mask it off and remove it with some kind of solvent or scouring pad, but I think that would mess up the paint around it somehow so it's probably a tough fix and leaving it on is just a matter of time before it cracks. skaterblader23 04-23-2005, 03:16 PM Tips: Airbrush must be kept the right distance at ALL times, if not then you will see definate lines on where its heavier and lighter. You must also make sure to put enough and not get dry spots. Also make sure not to put to much and make it run. Keep you movement in a back and forth method or up and down....not both at the same time 91 Celica St 04-25-2005, 12:07 PM yea i couildnt paint my own car, my garage wasnt big enouhg and my neighbor next door already calls the cops on me every 2 seconds for everything (its illegal to paint ur car, a FAT fine if u get caught) besides i got my labor for free so it would have been the exact same cost to paint it myself, but it woulda looked worse :) SigmaProjects 04-25-2005, 03:01 PM man I wish I had hook ups for paint jobs PittsburghCeli 04-26-2005, 01:23 AM I would be scared to paint except with the front fenders and bumper off as well as not having to paint the hood makes me not as scared. That shortens the paint stokes down to where I don't have to move my feet and each line will be straight in one stroke. barkroc2 04-27-2005, 06:18 PM how much $$ did that paint job run ya?? 91 Celica St 04-28-2005, 01:49 PM $320, i got labor free, that was all just materials PittsburghCeli 04-29-2005, 12:32 AM How do you take the side stripping off? 91 Celica St 04-29-2005, 11:13 AM a screwdriver to pry thm off and pull, its only connected by some crappy tape shit SigmaProjects 04-29-2005, 03:27 PM LOL TAPE? no snap in or anything like that? 91 Celica St 05-02-2005, 12:32 PM haha only 2 snap in holes, the rest is on by some adhesive tape shit SigmaProjects 05-02-2005, 01:51 PM lol, at least it makes for easy patch up =P vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
