Can you recommend a Buick?

Currently driving a 95 Nissan Maxima, has been an unbelievably reliable and nice car.

However, I am looking into getting a Buick. My father had an 87 LeSabre and a 95 Park Avenue Ultra, and my best childhood memories are going for long road trips in that Buick ride.

I am assuming most, if not all, folks on this board are Buick owners, so there might be some bias

But I was hoping to get an honest opinion on Buick's reliablity (my dad refused to comment, haha, he's converted to Toyota for life), and just overall sentiments about Buick.

Because of the stiff depreciation, I am looking for something used, made in teh 21st century. I have a fondness for bench seats, so the SUVs and the Regal is out. It would be a Century, LaCrosse, LeSabre, or Park Avenue. I heard the 3.8 V6 is bulletproof, so does that rule out the Century? I am a single guy, so a LeSabre might be overkill, but who knows. Also, if someone has a particular model year to recommend, I am all eyes?

Thanks!

It's been a bit played out, but if you're gonna go, go all out!

I have a 94 PA, and I hope to upgrade to the newer bodystyle ala 97-05.

The century is Buicks Best seller, and for good reason. It's a W-body car, which means it's the rough size of an accord, camry, impala, monte carlo, grand prix, intrigue, etc. It's spacious, peppy with the 3800 engine, and is not a bad looker. However, theres a ton of them on the road in comparisoon to other Buicks, making you less unique as an owner.

LeSabre- Driven by the oldest of Buick owners, it's the Bread and butter of Buick. A cruise through the local American legion on Bingo night will yield a dozen of these such cars. This car is the second largest sedan in the fleet, which brings me to...

The Park Avenue. Buick's Flagship Sedan. This is the car that brings all of the best Buick features, and rolls them into one stylish, powerful, large, cushy automobile. Opt for the Ultra version and you get a supercharged version of the 3800 engine. Inside, you can get heads up display, which tells you your speed, and other warnings. A computer tells you oil life, tire pressure, supercharger boost, exact coolant temps, exact battery charge, etc. You've got a ton of room in the front seat and back, with a humongous trunk. You may call this overkill, but you'll spend the same on a PA that you will on an equivalent Century of Lesabre, and have less the space. It's always nice to be able to stuff anything shy of a 4X8 sheet of plywood in your trunk.

the PA was redesigned in 97 and recieved minor changes until being discontinued in 05. 97's can be had for ~$6000. a 2000 is a 21 century car, but its still 1997 technology. the only 21st century Buicks ar ethe Rainier, LaCrosse, and the Lucerne.

Hope this helps!
