I was on another web site and they gave instructions on what was basically taking a factory air filter enclosure for a 5.4L V8 and making it a cold air intake by cutting three of the sides off. I was wondering if anybody had tried this and if it worked. Normally I wouldn't even concider this but it was on a website link straight from Ford.com. Please let me know if there was any gas milage increase or more horsepower, or even any other comments. Thanks

I did similar with an E150 van. I liked the sound when I opened it up,
plus a little better performance at low Rpms.
Plus price is right!
