New to the world of Toyota...jeremykjones 04-17-2005, 08:44 PM Hey guys, Just purchased a 1990 Toyota Celica GTS with the 5SFE engine (duh i know) I'm looking for a few things and am having some issues finding them. I finally found the CAI. Any post with a link to some good suppliers of awesome performance parts would be great! I'm looking for a new/slightly used 5SFE as mine has some issues I can't get it to idle properly. Headers, still don't think anyone US makes them. But this isn't as big of a issues because i'm turboing this thing around Christmas time. I need a rear bumper (with style) where I can place some exhause holes in the center of it. So something that doesn't have cut outs for exhaust already. Somewhere to find a good (but not overpriced) stand alone engine mgnt sys Many other things i'm looking for. If anyone has any idea as to what to do with that center console (i.e. carbon fiber it, glass it, remove it..??) because i think it is hidious. Thanks for your help> jones jeremykjones 04-17-2005, 08:48 PM one other thing.. how do you get the wheels to come off? Never undid all the lugs and the wheel wasn't ready to come off.. searched the manuel and it doesn't say a thing about it...??? 91 Celica St 04-18-2005, 01:14 AM its called use brute force, seriously if all 5 lugs are off just lift up slightly and pull.... thers a couple places that sell headers and exhasut but there hard to come by, ebya is ur best bet, or pacesetter as for aftermarket ecu goto NOPI.com and check the ecu section, for $350 (i think) you mail ur ecu to JET to have them re chip it and take ur governer off and stuff and ready it for turbo what exactly is wrong with ur 5sfe...y would u buy a new motor when it could be somethign as easy as a loose vacumm line? jeremykjones 04-18-2005, 10:56 AM its called use brute force, seriously if all 5 lugs are off just lift up slightly and pull.... what exactly is wrong with ur 5sfe...y would u buy a new motor when it could be somethign as easy as a loose vacumm line? Lol, I wish. No there has got to be something else to it. Brute force doesn't cut it and the wheel doesn't budge at all. It doesn't even act as those the lugs are off. But they are. There has got so be something else, surely. I have changed every vacume hose on the car. I've started to check out the fuel lines, pump, filter.. yada yada yada. It isn't the idle air control valve. The car runs perfect after you start it and drive it. But when you first start it the car idles between 1800 and 600 RPMs irradicaly. They guy i first took it to said it was the IACV but it obviously isn't. I am not really sure what the deal is with it. Plus the engine has 184.000 miles on it. So if you know where i could get an engine that would be great! Thanks for your help Jones 91 Celica St 04-18-2005, 12:04 PM your rims could be rusty and just be really hard to get off, try some wd-40, alot of it and it that dosent work take a soft face mallet hammer and "tap" the outside of the rim all the way around to try to see if that moves it a little bit Vip09 04-18-2005, 01:41 PM I would say it would be the IAC valve causing the idling problem. But if you are sure the IAC is ok.. my next guess would be a dirty/malfunctioning MAFS. Vip09 04-18-2005, 01:42 PM For the wheels.. pick up some liquid wrench and spray a bunch of it where it's sticking. Let it soak in overnight, then try to get them off. PittsburghCeli 04-18-2005, 07:12 PM Those wheels are melted to the rotors behind the lug nutz from 184000 miles of heat. Sledge hammer and liquid wrench should do it.
