I am new to the forum, I have done alot of work on Hondas but have never worked on transmissions. I also have a 79 Datsun 280ZX and a 1974 Datsun 260Z and may be coming here to find answers to puzzling questions. I am currently working on a 1990 Honda Accord with shift problems. The first thing I did when I got the car was to change the transmission fluid to Genuine Honda ATF. That seemed to work for about 1000 miles but now it is slipping from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. Once it gets into 3rd gear it does fine through to 4th. The ECU does not show any codes...any ideas?

Thanks!

Probably a bad worn transmission. They do wear out you know.,

Not smart - intended to be useful information (although, from what Z28Josh said, it seems a txmission prob MIGHT cause the ECU to throw a code - I didn't know that.)

Does ANYONE here know how to repair an AT on an Accord? I know I wouldn't touch it.
