Coincidental battery death?surferfletch 04-16-2005, 11:53 AM Rodeo tried to start a couple cranks, now I get rapid clicking. The battery is probably 2 years old, which isn't bad for the heat of FL. What I did this morning (before it failed to start): --changed the oil --tightened the forever squeeling power steering belt (too tight?) --patched a nail hole in the right rear tire. What I did 2 weeks ago: --new CD receiver. Probably just due for a battery... It was an Advance special, I think...Autostart maybe... Heading back down to the zone. surferfletch 04-16-2005, 01:16 PM Autocraft it was... Made 05/03. Full warranty remains. Took about 20 seconds for the tester to say the battery is dead. That battery was supposed to be no maintenance, with no place to check/add water. It was probably dry. The replacement is now a maintenance battery. My buddy just changed out his alternator in his '97 V6. I hope I'm not heading that way. I'll have it tested if this battery dies a quick death. megavolt121 04-17-2005, 12:36 PM I had a similar problem too, except mine occured 4 months after I bought my battery. I suspect I might have a weak alternator. You should keep an eye on that. surferfletch 04-18-2005, 05:19 PM Power steering belt broke. Needed a tow. Now I'll learn how to change all 3 belts up front. Whoo hoo. surferfletch 04-18-2005, 10:42 PM Three belts and three different ways to adjust tension. Pretty easy stuff with the help of the Haynes. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
