The only things I would add is to spray the main nut holding the range sensor on with penetrating oil the night before you attemp to remove. Then I would disconnect the shift linkage (by prying off with a flat screwdriver). After four years my nut was seized up and I damaged the shift cable.
Secondly, I would thoroughly clean out the torx screw heads. They will be loaded with dirt and rust. If you don't you may strip the head and be stuck finding an alternative method of removing (and replacing) the screw.
