96 Grand Cherokee trannyvaughnj 04-15-2005, 12:34 PM I replace the transmission and rear-end on my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6cyl auto 4wd. Everything went fine except the vac hose from the tranny to the engine. I don't remember where it attaches. There is the vac hose and a 4 inch piece of tubing hanging loose. When I test drove it, it wouldn't change gears til it red lined. vaughnj 04-15-2005, 01:03 PM Someone go out and pop the hood on your Cherokee and look on the passenger side near the bell housing. There is a va line coming from the tranny. Where does it go? trannyman52 04-16-2005, 02:18 AM are you sure its a vac hose,,not a vent for the transfer-case,,,,or vac to the transfer-case shift controls,,,,the trans requires no vac,,,high shift points should be corrected by adjusting throttle valve linkage from trans to engine dksob81 04-16-2005, 08:40 AM not sure about the vacuum line, but the shifting problem sounds like a really loosely adjusted TV Cable, adjust the Throttle Valve cable and it should take care of it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
