Mainly city driving or highway? Loaded or just you? jeffroski 04-15-2005, 11:43 PM You might have a clogged cat, the passenger one is being replaced on my truck. Prior to a tune up and major tranny work I was getting 14 mpg in town and 18 on the highway. truck150 04-16-2005, 07:25 AM my truck iis a 2001 supercrew with 115,000 miles. not city but not highway more like 60 mph for about 15mins. to work. just me Rust Shackleford 04-20-2005, 07:14 PM I've got an '04 F-150 and i'm getting 12-14 with the 5.4 fordtrucksonly 04-21-2005, 08:48 PM i get around 16 mpg, and i have the 4.9, check out your fuel filter, and air filter. Those can be gas mileage robbers.. cjlst 05-17-2005, 05:59 PM I have a 2002 f-150 with a 5.4 with only 15000 miles and get from 11.5 to 13 mpg. What a tank! It's never been able to get decent mileage. The dealer won't even talk about it. Any suggestions? mikieem 05-19-2005, 11:52 PM man, I get about 10 mpg towing my trailer. on my 01 supercrew with 35000 on it, i am getting about 14 to 15 mpg. That's not beating on it, if i stomp it, around 13. I'd suggest dual exhaust, a k & n, and a tune up with good plugs, not the cheap ones. Cait Sith Cat 05-22-2005, 10:45 PM my 4.9 gets about 14 mpg and my dad's 5.0 gets about 11.6. l-m tech 05-23-2005, 02:59 PM oo f-150 step side 5.4. 18 city 21 hiway. diablo chip transgo hd-2 shift kit. k&n filter with 3.55 gears and lowered 3' front 5' rear. with 65k on it. ModMech 05-23-2005, 03:16 PM Just remember that in most places (larger cities) they use "reformulated" gasoline, and your economy will be 10%-20% LOWER because of it. Also, gearing and driving style have alot to do with it too. A 4x4 with steep gears will be able to pull a heavy load easily, but it will use more fuel every day too. Cait Sith Cat 05-24-2005, 11:33 PM What do you mean 'reformulated'? ModMech 05-26-2005, 01:37 AM Reformulated gasoline contains a higher Oxygen content than "normal". this is achieved in a few different ways, but basically you dilute the raw refined fuel, so you lower it's energy content. This provides slightly lower tailpipe emissions (at idle), but causes you to actually burn 10-20% MORE fuel to go exactly the same distance, so overall emissions actually GO UP. AND you spend more $$ to drive that distance. Smart isn't it? fordtrucksonly 05-26-2005, 02:59 PM Well, all i can say is that im glad i dont live in the city, or even near it for that matter. stang805 05-26-2005, 07:40 PM i get about 15-17 on the highway, swiched to full synthetic oil at the last change and it gets better mileage than it did, in town, not worth tryin to figure how many gallons per foot PowerJunkie 06-03-2005, 01:25 AM I have a Screw and get 13-14 mpg with mixed Highway/stree daily driving. firefighter3110 08-01-2005, 02:24 PM 18.5 HWY 13.2 (roughly) CITY, K&N Air filter, new fuel filter, larger exhaust, unloaded, 97 5.4 single cab shortie. jkcox 10-12-2005, 11:42 PM I have a 01 supercab 4x4 loaded with the tow package. I get 11 in the city and about 16 highway. Pulling a trailer 9mpg. 44k on it. HTH badasstour 10-13-2005, 02:25 PM my 85 f250 with 5.8w with 4.11 rear and 4.10 front gets 14mpg mart1104 01-05-2006, 02:31 PM I have a 1991 XLT 4.9L and I get in the high 15-17mpg and about 10mpg pulling the boat (17.5 foot jet boat) steve longo 04-06-2006, 10:00 AM no F-150 that I know gets good mileage above 13--15 mpg. I drive a 2001 F-150 witha 4.2 V6 and it has plenty of power and I get 23--25 mpg on the highway with a lite foot. It also has the original factory tires and brakes at 172,000 miles and they still have more than half the thread and material left to them, probably 205,000--215,000 miles till I change them. When I tow my two quads around I still get around 16-18 mpg. The V6 is ignored too much steve:) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
