It sounds like I have a hole in an exhaust pipe. This will be the first time I've replaced pipes / exhaust on 94 Accord. I know what I paid on other cars before and it wasn't too expensive. What should I prepare for on a Honda?

It's better that you have access to
1. a lift, to get your car up
2. torch, to cut off pipes or loosen rust-bound bolts/nuts
3. Air compressor and impact wrench
The parts you need
4. Pipe you are replacing
5. gasket for both ends of the pipe
6. bolts and nuts (I use stainless steel)
The tools you need
7. sockets and wrenches
Most exhaust pipes got rusted out at the joint area. But most other portion is still in very good condition. If you have access to 1 and 2, you can try to "brazing" it. I have done it couple times to seal up the rust-out holes and cracks. The results are actually pretty good.

Check a muffler shop for a quote. The will put it on the rack for an inspection and you can see for your self. They will give you a quote that you can accept or reject. I would not go to Midas. They are almost as expensive as the dealer and the parts don't last except for the muffler which I think they still guarantee for the life of the car or as long as you own it.
