Andydg 04-15-2005, 01:52 AM My neighbor is from the south and she tells me it sounds like we have a stuffed up nose. But in my opinion we don't have accents...everyone else does. Jonno 04-15-2005, 02:21 AM All you Americans have weird accents.... Us Austalians are normal. bob stone 04-15-2005, 02:52 AM lol is there such thing as a cali accent ?? I had a friend think I had one for about a month till he finally figured out it was my lisp :P Sluttypatton 04-15-2005, 03:33 AM I don't know what you're talking aboot, eh!?! Janet Reno 04-15-2005, 04:37 AM I'm Canadian and people in California don't seem to have an accent to me. David Letterman, Conan Obrien, Jay Leno...they all sound normal to me. Oh, and I've never heard anyone say "aboot" and I hear lots of US citizens end their sentences with "eh". The most recognizable accents that I know of in the US are the Boston area natives, New York area natives, and "southerners" like Texas and Alabama. -Davo 04-15-2005, 04:48 AM All you Americans have weird accents.... '97ventureowner 04-15-2005, 03:34 PM I have heard it sounds like we have stuffy noses... Nah, it's just that thin "mountain air" in those states located in the Rocky Mountain range, not stuffy noses. -Josh- 04-15-2005, 04:00 PM sadly i have some of my grandfathers blood...he was born and raised in the back woods of Kentucky...and i've been told i have an accent. I never realized it until i was told and since then i always seem to catch myself saying things with an accent....it sucks, i've made myself paranoid. Vtec913 04-15-2005, 05:31 PM I got me a Boston accent. I use it predominatley when I'm pissed off and yelling at someone, like a real person from Boston should :) speediva 04-15-2005, 09:11 PM The only person who told me I have an "east coast" accent is Oz. I've lived in Kansas City, and there is a lil bit of an accent here and there, but it's not too bad. No one from KC knew I wasn't a "local yokel" from my speech. I've visited northern California, which also had a slight accent, but not much. Almost like a drawl but not twangy. None of them knew where I was from based upon any accent, either. I guess I speak somewhat neutrally.... which considering "Picksburghese", that's a GOOD thing. tman 04-15-2005, 09:29 PM I live in North Carolina. I love the Dukes of Hazzard. I have a Silverado with a Dixie horn. I know people that could make Jeff Foxworthy look like he belongs at Donald Trumps side. Ya'll all need to git to cetchin that thur possum fore it gets away. Thelma kin cook it up fer us. Okay, were not that bad in North Carolina. I do have a southern accent, but I can turn it off when I need to. 91300zxtt 04-15-2005, 10:19 PM Dont forget the Chicahgo accent....... *chris farley* Da Bears! *chris farley* Ya, we are our own unique bread, set aside from the rest of the midwest. Da bears Da bulls, one of my favorite SNL skits. Yes it is true tho, most f us do talk like thatin Chicago. RickwithaTbird 04-15-2005, 11:57 PM I've had a lot of accents because Ive moved so much. When I moved to california, everyone knew I was from texas because of how I talked. When I left california and went to Hawaii, everyone knew I was from california. When I left Hawaii, and went to Ohio, people didnt know where the hell I was from but they thought I talked funny. I never picked up an Ohio accent because I wasnt there long enough, and I wouldnt want that accent anyways. Polygon 04-16-2005, 02:34 PM I have heard it sounds like we have stuffy noses... I would have to agree. I live in Utah and if you've ever heard your own voice on tape it kind of sounds that way. TaNK_Em 04-16-2005, 10:07 PM Well, I was born and live in the state of Michigan, but everyone thinks I am from the south. They all say I have a southern accent and whatnot. I don’t know it might be the blood or something. People get a kick out of my George bush and Larry the cable guy impersonations. There is this one kid in my school that calls my cowboy, I said one day "why do you call me cowboy" he said, "Cause you sound like your from the south" Hell I really don’t know. Southern people say warsh instead of wash and idear instead of idea. You want to hear the world idear? Watch American chopper. - Kevin Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
