93 camry le fuse blows

I have a 1993 Toyota Camry LE. The 10 amp fuse that controls
the windows and the instrument panel keeps blowing. We had a
dealer correct the problem somewhat in 2003 who saying that there
was a short in the trunk. But the problem has continued since then.
We took the car back to the dealer a few times since. But the
problem has worsened. Now the fuse blows very shortly after it is
put in. The dealer says the warranty has run out and they will
have to charge again for diagnosing the problem. No other problems
on the car. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Check the wiring yourself for frayed wiring where the insulation has worn off on 1 or 2 wires. These frayed wires may be touching each other or some bare metal blowing the fuse. A common place for this to happen is in the bundle of wires where they pass through the door itself. You may have to peel back the outside insulation to look for this. The constant opening and closing of the door causes some insulation wear. I would start with the driver's door since this gets the most use.

Good luck with the problem.
