My truck is starting to have tranny probs, shifting is rough from first to second when slowly accelerating; also when I slow down to make a turn and accelerate away the shift can occasionaly hard like a hard thunk. The truck is also making a ticking noise from the passenger side of the engine, kninda sounds like an injector or something not geetin proper oiling. The dealer said it might have lost it's emmisions program??? That was the first guess as to the noise. This truck had tranny work done to it last year about 12K miles ago also had Ford factory leaking heads fixed. They Ford Quality Care people said the tranny was approximately low one quart of oil, don't know if this was a major factor in the tranny problem.

Harsh 1-2 shifts are almost always caused by a broken accumulator spring, a $25 fix inc. labor.

As for the ticking, it could be injectors or *possibally* a valve guide, Ford did have troubles with SOME heads and valve guides making noise, but I have not seen any failures or excessive oil use because of it.

And no, the EEC id NOT "lose it's emission programming", that's just a plain STUPID thing for any stealership to even say, my god.

The dealership wants to replace the tranny in my truck. They found grindings in the pan and want to put in a remanufactured tranny or do a rebuild depending on the cost and what the aftermarket warranty company wants to do. The warranty company possibly wanted to put in some tranny???? THEY will send the dealer cause it might be to much according to them. Also the dealership said the cat on the left side was bad and will replace it under the 8yr/80,000 mile emmisions warranty program. Will an old cat and new cat cause problems for me? Should I tell them to replace the other one. I know there is actually two on each side how about the O2 sensors. I'm really starting to get a bad tast in my mouth for this truck. They said the noise was gone after hitting the cat with a mallet and hit it again and the noise came back. I really hope I'm not getting run around here. Has anyone else had this many problems with an F150?
