Water in oilBen29 04-13-2005, 04:56 PM A friend just gave me a 95' Geo Metro. It has a couple problems (of course it does it was free) 1st-- Under the In-take manifold there is some type of plug that fell out. It was under the car along with a bunch of coolant. I'm not sure why this came out. A guy I work with said it might be some type of freeze protection for the engine block. (the plug comes out if the water freezes in the block instead of cracking the block). If this is true how would I put the plug back in? It looks like it was pressed in place. 2nd-- There is water in the oil pan. Does this have to do with the plug? Or is this a separate problem? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Ben Crvett69 04-13-2005, 05:23 PM sounds like they didn;t have enough antifreeze in the engine and it cracked the block, another indication was the frozen water forced that plug out. have to take intake off and tap plug back in most likely but engine block or head might be bad Tominator2000 04-13-2005, 07:29 PM Actually there are no such things as 'freeze plugs' designed to push out when water freezes in an unprotected motor. The plugs go in casting relief holes. If they fall out when water freezes in the block it is not by design. Pressure check the cooling system. Compression check the motor. :2cents: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
