1985 4Runner, straight axel, manual transmission, manual hubs - gots a noise. Sounds like a bearing, changes frequency with speed and it's getting worse. ONLY makes the sound in 4wd (high or low range, doesn't matter) with the hubs engaged. Does not make the sound in 4wd or 2wd with the hubs out. Does not make the sound in 2wd with the hubs in. I removed the front driveshaft to isolate the transfer case and no noise in 4wd with the front drive shaft removed (hubs in or out). Front drive shaft freshly rebuilt, slip spline was frozen but it was unrelated to the noise.

Anybody?

Check your 3rd member, Change Oil, You might have a bad ring and pinion.

yes it could be your ring and pinion, but im kinda leaning towards one of your birfields is starting to blow up. you should tear it down and check those. is there any oil coming out of the ball joints?
