WIP: 1/43 Scratchbuilt ChopperGTmike400 04-12-2005, 06:03 PM Buildin a 1/43 Chopper from scratch as a relief project. (We all know the story...1/6 gets annoying, I bitch, then I go back to work.) This is a really fun project that Im enjoying, despite the size. Most fun I have had building a model since modelpalooza. Well, its got a scratchbuilt motor. Despite its difficulty it was rather cool watching it come together. I was going to say something here, but I lost my train of thought. Heres a pic of it so far. Oh, aha, thanks to Will for pointing out that my first motor was too small. Then I printed off the plans for my real bike in 1/43 scale. Also, the rims on there in the pic are mockup...they are not the real rims Im using. Now heres the pic. http://img94.echo.cx/img94/4938/dscf0018c5rf.jpg (Trans is a WIP) Enjoy! 1986Z28 04-12-2005, 06:44 PM looks cool so far mike PyRoTeKniKz 04-12-2005, 07:32 PM Looks good Mike! But didnt you make one before? I remember seeing it on your mod site...? Feint Motion 04-12-2005, 07:36 PM another 1/43 chopa? Nice, this one should look better than the one you made 2 years ago. Mustangman25 04-12-2005, 08:46 PM Looking really good, especially considering the scale. Are those car tires though? GTmike400 04-12-2005, 09:55 PM Nabil and Josh, yes I built one before...a very very very crappy one. This one should be much better I hope. Chuck, I hate to admit it, but they are 1/43 Car tires that Im modifying. SchuberT 04-12-2005, 10:12 PM Looking very sweet Mike, can't wait to see more. rx7king 04-12-2005, 11:31 PM sweet, im curious how you scratch built the engine Whumbachumba 04-12-2005, 11:38 PM Looks good. Can't wait to see the final chopper. I want to know, how much do you use ACAD in your design process? Or do you use Inventor? GTmike400 04-13-2005, 08:17 AM Looks good. Can't wait to see the final chopper. I want to know, how much do you use ACAD in your design process? Or do you use Inventor? I use AutoCAD pretty often throughout my design processes for most of my stuff. I just took my 1/1 scale chopper that I designed on CAD and scaled it down to 1/43. For my hot rod I've designed the entire thing in AutoCAD down to every last part. willimo 04-13-2005, 05:25 PM That looks fantastic. What are you going to do for the wheels and tires in the end? I've been wanting to make one in 1:24, as well as a 1:24 sport bike. I will be watching this. GTmike400 04-15-2005, 06:17 PM UPDATES: Just some new pics. Finished the frame and pretty much finished the rear wheel. Trans is still in progress, going to start the tins tonight. Enjoy the pics. http://img98.echo.cx/img98/9277/dscf00019pz.jpg http://img98.echo.cx/img98/5612/dscf00024du.jpg http://img98.echo.cx/img98/7571/dscf00065yw.jpg http://img98.echo.cx/img98/9356/dscf00072wz.jpg http://img98.echo.cx/img98/8775/dscf00081vs.jpg http://img98.echo.cx/img98/7669/dscf00096hq.jpg http://img98.echo.cx/img98/6980/dscf00114cj.jpg Sorry, lots of pics. Enjoy. willimo 04-15-2005, 06:20 PM I've said it before, I'll say it again, that looks great. That motor looks fantastic, and I'm amazed at the smooth, duplicated curves of your frame. Top notch, dude! Amazon 04-15-2005, 06:48 PM In 1:43,thats small  Nicely done,it`s so tiny:) What´s next? A skateboard in 1:35? A lawnmower in 1:87? :icon16: NOMADGAMER 04-15-2005, 10:59 PM wow i wish you would send me, or post online the dwg files. GTmike400 04-15-2005, 11:05 PM wow i wish you would send me, or post online the dwg files. I'm not going to post them because I work very hard on them and spend hundreds of hours on those drawings to get them perfect. Plus, stuff that I do for other people I get commission. Sorry. Will, thanks for the complements. The tank should follow the same curves, as well as the seat and oil pan. Amazon, my next project will be a 1:33.472 scale shopping cart. injecting 04-15-2005, 11:06 PM Nice job Mike. Can't wait to see more. Feint Motion 04-16-2005, 01:03 AM Looking great Mike, Damn your fast. NOMADGAMER 04-16-2005, 10:30 PM i also work on autocad all day, just wondered if you'd share some old dwg files of model cars only. i also get paid for autocad drawings, but what i do for work isnt model cars ;) send me a dwg of a wheel you drew up or something Honoturtle 04-17-2005, 04:59 AM Cool chopper! I myself have worked with Autodesk Inventor, not too sure how different it is from the stuff you guys do, but I've constructed an electric vehicle chassis among other simple stuff for modeling. GTmike400 04-17-2005, 01:36 PM UPDATES: Built the tank. Still needs a little bit of tweaking. Its not supposed to blend flush into the frame because it will become flush once the seat pan is built. http://img9.echo.cx/img9/9679/dscf00030kh.jpg http://img9.echo.cx/img9/4188/dscf00043rv.jpg. http://img9.echo.cx/img9/6973/dscf00052ua.jpg http://img9.echo.cx/img9/5305/dscf00068tx.jpg http://img9.echo.cx/img9/4260/dscf00082rh.jpg Enjoy. ImolaEK 04-17-2005, 02:09 PM Now that is cool :smokin: Keep up the cool stuff Mike:) GTmike400 04-17-2005, 06:18 PM UPDATES: Built the seat pan and fender. Now to build the oil pan. http://img231.echo.cx/img231/1334/dscf00141yv.jpg http://img231.echo.cx/img231/1903/dscf00152zu.jpg http://img231.echo.cx/img231/3607/dscf00162tf.jpg http://img231.echo.cx/img231/6995/dscf00173dc.jpg http://img231.echo.cx/img231/3984/dscf00194me.jpg http://img231.echo.cx/img231/9521/dscf00216xs.jpg Whumbachumba 04-17-2005, 06:20 PM That is a beast.
