View Full Version : What is the most power you could achieve from a 180sx? What is the most power you could achieve from a 180sx? Hossain_Trance101 04-12-2005, 09:47 AM mynismo 04-12-2005, 10:34 AM imhoidtwsatfn ........ i don't know how i still remember that. 240SXSlideStar 04-12-2005, 11:31 AM With enough money, you can go in the thousands. And you think R32s are ugly? sidewayzS13 04-12-2005, 12:05 PM my nismo what did u just say? are you using a CA or SR? SHIFT_KA24DE 04-12-2005, 12:46 PM Japanese engineers still say the R32 GT-R was still the "best" in development and car performance compared to the progress they made with the R33 and R34. NOTHING is bad about the R32.... it's uber hot. oh and this question is subjective. It depends on who's modifying it. The upgrades are endless and it depends how far you want to go. On average you won't tune a lightweight FR pass 500~ b/c you'll just end up losing traction and control, but like i said, if you end up tuning it for drag that can be easily fixed with bars, slicks, downforce, suspension alteration, etc.... TatII 04-12-2005, 04:02 PM i'm gonna go off topic alittle, there are a few fundamental flaws in a R32, its chassis isn't as rigid as the rest of the, they have a understeerig problem, their ATESSA ETS is very crude, their HICAS is not as sophisticated, and unless its a v-spec II, its brakes are horrible. other then that, excellent car. just hard to find one in good condition since they range from 89-94. but for a SR, i doubt you will go anything over 700hp. the average high powered SR's are in the 400-500whp range which is already too much for a RWD car of that size anyways. 240SXSlideStar 04-12-2005, 04:44 PM There are 1200hp 1.6 B16s out there, so the limit for the SR is damn high. (unless he meant streetable) and also, all cars in Japan are in great condition, lol, if you wanna find a good R32 you just walk down the street, the problem is finding one that's stock. :-P AWDSR20 04-12-2005, 05:01 PM There are 1200hp 1.6 B16s out there, so the limit for the SR is damn high. (unless he meant streetable) and also, all cars in Japan are in great condition, lol, if you wanna find a good R32 you just walk down the street, the problem is finding one that's stock. :-P Sure, wit unlimited funds and major turbo lag… you can make an SR have 1000 hp!!! As a SR owner, 300 hp is more then enough for my driving habits. (don’t want to slide in some canyon narrow rod and die due to no rear traction) 400 hp SR is a monster on the street… 1000hp, diyno Queen … 240SXSlideStar 04-12-2005, 05:33 PM With enough money, you can go in the thousands. That's why I said this. Hit_N_Run-player 04-12-2005, 05:38 PM this is the dumbest question ever. No offense, but you sound like the type of person who is gonna say "no way your car will beat me, im 15 and i drive a 1250AWHP 180sx to school every day!" More money=more horespower SHIFT_KA24DE 04-12-2005, 08:24 PM "fundamental flaws in the R32"... yes of course if you compare it to the GT-R's that were produced after it. lolz. The step up from the previous R31 is what i'm trying to say. The amount of progress they achieved at that moment of time was the better than the amount of work they got done between the 32 to 33 and 33 to 34. 240SXSlideStar 04-12-2005, 09:00 PM R32 is totally badass. nisco 04-12-2005, 09:39 PM wow this topic got off topic quick... i agree R32s are damn nice mynismo 04-12-2005, 11:00 PM sr's and rb25's are limited to around 600whp "reliably" rb26 around 700whp reliably. anything more you aint gonna be driving it on the street. R.W.240 04-13-2005, 12:01 PM 400 hp SR is a monster on the street… 1000hp, diyno Queen … Either that or a 11,000RPM 971PS 2.2L Monster that runs a 9.71 (and that was a while ago) AWDSR20 04-13-2005, 04:50 PM u mean the 2.2L strocker kit for the SR? 9.71 time?! wow slideways... 04-13-2005, 07:34 PM The step up from the previous R31 is what i'm trying to say. The amount of progress they achieved at that moment of time was the better than the amount of work they got done between the 32 to 33 and 33 to 34. you realize that this is mostly because the r31 wasnt offered as a gt-r dont you? the top of the line r31 iirc is a 210hp rwd gts-r with hicas (not super hicas) the r32 gts had (again iirc) 220hp rwd and super hicas so between the two equal models it wasnt that much of a change as you may think the big accomplishment was for the gas crisis to end and the ability to make an all-out track car like the old gt-r cars back in the day. i think a bigger change was between the fairlady z32 TT and the z31 ok ill stop being off topic but i love to hear myself talk :) yeah money=power but on sr20 stock internals i would stay around 300-350whp. slideways... 04-13-2005, 07:37 PM Either that or a 11,000RPM 971PS 2.2L Monster that runs a 9.71 (and that was a while ago) the HKS 180sx drag car? i forgot what year that was but it had to be like 8 or 9 years ago right? TatII 04-13-2005, 08:01 PM if i remember correctly, the HKS drag 180sx was RB26 powered, and it runs 7's. sidewayzS13 04-13-2005, 09:05 PM damn Chuki_breath 04-13-2005, 09:23 PM well all i know is on gran turismo 2, the hks drag 180 sux at circuit racing....i wonder why??? lol. Yea i think it does run 7's. nisco 04-13-2005, 09:47 PM well all i know is on gran turismo 2, the hks drag 180 sux at circuit racing.... hahahhahahahahahahhaha that jus made my night  Hit_N_Run-player 04-13-2005, 10:39 PM thats good sig material.. nisco 04-14-2005, 12:11 AM thats good sig material.. oooh.. damn! i was gonna do that :banghead: ill have to jump on the next one Hossain_Trance101 04-14-2005, 03:53 AM Do any of you guys know the primary difference between a 180sx and 240sx (apart from the fact that one is American and the other is for the Pacifics)? Is one more powerful or has more torque than the other or is it just the same with different names? AWDSR20 04-14-2005, 06:12 AM dude! READ FAQS! one had the ummm Sr 0r CA and the other...ummmm KA?! exept for the engine and seats and looks (typeX) its the same car....so yeah there the same from that point of view. NiSmO_zt 04-14-2005, 04:59 PM wow, mad off topic rants... rofl copter. anyway, TRANCE101, we dont have 180sx's here in the states. we have 240s, which has the same chassis, and a similar body to the silvias and 180sx, but different motor. if you put an sr20det in or build and turbo the existing ka24d/e, it will cost about 7000 buks to get about 350 whp, give or take. youve got alot to learn about these cars, but its better than a civic and the other pos's out there, so stick around and read-up.
