At any rate it don't be soundin' too safe. Your ECU should be fine. The wiring can be a bear though. HermsS13 04-12-2005, 12:43 AM you wouldnt happen to know what wiring problems i may run into do ya? Hit_N_Run-player 04-12-2005, 12:46 AM im positive your going to need a manual ECU...no doubt.. 240SXSlideStar 04-12-2005, 12:49 AM Yeah, I heard there's no 4th and 5th gear sensor on the auto ECU or something like that. HermsS13 04-12-2005, 12:56 AM thats what i figured. thanks for the input sidewayzS13 04-12-2005, 12:14 PM manual ECU HermsS13 04-12-2005, 01:22 PM anyone know about the rear suspension problem???? Greenblurr93 04-12-2005, 02:42 PM check your bushings for wear, and while your under thier check to see if anything is bent. AWDSR20 04-12-2005, 05:02 PM how is the tow steeting? look for bent stuff in the rear... nissanfanatic 04-12-2005, 11:09 PM Wrong. Auto ECUs work. Only problem is the park sensor wire. Great thing about the auto ECU is no speed limiter. HermsS13 04-12-2005, 11:44 PM awesome, what do you think I should do about the park sensor wire? Hit_N_Run-player 04-13-2005, 12:29 AM since when has an auto ECU worked for a manual? isnt the auto only a 4sp? 240SXSlideStar 04-13-2005, 12:37 AM Isn't a 3speed? GSR2NR94 04-13-2005, 01:16 AM Are you sure NissanFanatic? I am not doubting you because you know your shit, but that just doesnt sound right with a 4 spd auto ecu working for a 5 spd tranny. Anyways, Since you told me that you already bought new GR-2's off ebay, then I would install them and see how it rides. If its still shaky, then you should look underneath to see if you can find anything suspicious. What the heck am I telling you this for though, you will probably just be coming over my house and making me do it. lol. HermsS13 04-13-2005, 01:46 AM Make you do it yea right you would never touch any car but yer own lol nissanfanatic 04-13-2005, 05:36 PM Anthony on KA-T.org uses an auto ECU. Its how he can run over 120 with just a SAFC. slideways... 04-13-2005, 07:24 PM reflashed auto ecu im guessing? the ecu controls the transmission in an auto but not in a manual so...maybe it would work. the manual transmission everything is manually controlled so i guess the auto ecu would still try to tell the nonexistant trans what to do but it wouldnt do anything...just conjecture but as far as i can tell it should be fine the suspension problem probably has to do with your alignment changing under compression, but im not sure exactly what problem would cause this. check for worn bushings, bent links, springs, shocks, ect. nissanfanatic 04-13-2005, 07:42 PM It works. People do it. I'm pretty sure his ECU is stock. He did an auto to manual swap and just never swapped in ECUs. november-ice 04-13-2005, 07:49 PM so what r you looking at $ wise to do a manu to auto swap looking into a s14 but manu's seem to be far and few between...but then again finding a decent priced s14 not to fun ether bagwanshrirashnish 04-13-2005, 11:12 PM Auto ecu works just fine. You just have to deal with the fact that with an auto you can only start in park. You have to find the wires that control that and disable that feature. I would get an aftermarket ecu anyway but my son has done several swaps and never had to change the ecu if he didn't want to. 240SXSlideStar 04-13-2005, 11:15 PM You can also start it in neutral. monooxide 04-13-2005, 11:33 PM As some of you know this will be my taks this summer too. I will be doing the in-famous not infamous Auto- manual swap. I have read the Auto ECU will work. What i want to do is set it up where a switch can decide park so it will be less likely to be stolen. Also the Reverse light has been known to not come on. What will you do with the 4th and 5th gear sensors? If they are unplugged does the car still track Odometer readings and MPH? Also I dont know if you can start the manul trans in Neutral if the Auto ECU is used to having the Auto stick shift in there for reading where the lever is at. 240SXSlideStar 04-13-2005, 11:38 PM I meant you can start an automatic in neutral. HermsS13 04-13-2005, 11:52 PM This is all way confusing, I just need to talk to someone who has done it lol, appricate all the input GSR2NR94 04-14-2005, 12:33 AM Hey, I already ordered the ECU for you. Its on the way right now from a 93 SE, so don't worrk about messing with the Auto ECU man. And if any of you want to know, I sold him the whole swap (driveshaft, tranny, lines, everything) for $250. I sold it to him cheap because hes a friend, and I hate too see perfect drift machines be ruined by automatic transmissions, no offense to anyone who has one. Thanks for the help though guys. monooxide 04-14-2005, 04:28 PM GSR2NR you said you would give me a write up on the Auto-Manual swap but I never recieved one? If you could please do NiSmO_zt 04-14-2005, 05:07 PM with the suspension sway, i had that same problem wiht my 86 turbo z, turned out the belts in my rear tires were busted because of drifting and the like, so i replaced them and put new shocks on the back, and bingo, handled like a mad man. the shocks may have been the important factor too, cause it didnt seem like they needed replaced, didnt bounce a lot or anything, but their probably really old, and like $30 apiece. GSR2NR94 04-14-2005, 10:53 PM Monoxide, your right. I did say that I would give you a write up on the swap, but just above a few posts, I said that I have just gotten the ECU for my friend so that we can do it, which obviously means that we have not done it yet. And I do not know exactly when we will because I have a couple cars to work on right now that I have to get done before we can work on our own. I will let you know when we do though. HermsS13 04-15-2005, 03:51 PM Well yesterday I put my new struts on and it took car of all the suspension problems, well except a shaky wheel, I stole some rims from GSR2NR and they need to be balanced. so thanks for all the input Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
