Tire noise, maybe not...Capone 04-11-2005, 08:08 PM I have been having what I thought was tire noise for about the last month. I had crappy tires that were worn uneven so I thought that it was a no brainer, I need new tires. Well $500 later and the noise is still there. No change. It is worst at 40-50mph but it starts at about 15mph and it is still very noticable at 70mph. It is so loud at 45 that I have to cover my ears. Any ideas on what could be causing this? 99 sport 154K sickrick111 04-15-2005, 05:20 PM how does this noise sound in your own words. dedhead63 04-15-2005, 05:47 PM Could be a wheel bearing. Capone 04-15-2005, 06:30 PM It's kind of tough to describe. It sounds like I'm driving around in a Jeep with 33" mudders. But it gets real bassy around 45mph. And I'm talking LOUD, like I'm sitting on a speaker at a Pantera show or something. I'm going to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer on Monday. $$$, but oh well. The thing has 155,000 miles on it and I have only had to take it to the shop one other time. Not too bad. trucku 04-30-2005, 02:32 AM alighnment maybe? ...Maybe your shocks are bad and affecting the ride hight and tire wear. Capone 04-30-2005, 09:48 AM it was the right front hub assembly. $400 ouch!!! steve11 04-30-2005, 05:26 PM how did they figure out which wheel had the problem? i have a slight whine sometimes. wondered if it was the tires on road, but always interested in another theory. Capone 04-30-2005, 05:42 PM I think you can hear it if you have the car on a jack and spin the wheel by hand. You probably have to get it spinning pretty quikly but that should do it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
