Leak at oil filter housing

Yep Me again. There is a leak where the oil filter Housing attaches to the engine block. Could silicone sealer fix this. I could see old silicone hanging down from there so it seems this was what was used before. Someone musta had this before. THANKS

hi grenada, hope your island has recovered from the hurricane by now , the oil filter housing that attaches to the engine should have a prefabricated seal under it , not just silicone , had mine replaced at a garage , was basicaly a unbolt , replace seal , rebolt , I looked at my engine , the 4.0 6 cyl 94 gc limited , it is attached to the engine with a single 3/8-1/2. or metric hex head bolt in the center of the housing , should be realtivly easy to replace the internal seal , if you can get one delivered

Thanks. Slowly recovering. This seal your talking about, is it an O-Ring. Is it a dealer only item. I need to fix soon.

Dealer costs-- 8-10$ you can buy elsewhere but have gotten wrong sizes not worth the trouble did you get my PM dale
