I am in the process of putting a decent system in my 92 Lincoln Continental. Here is a list of what I have so far.

JVC KD-ADV38 head unit with DVD,
Tsunami X15HCAP 40F Hybrid Super Cap,
Kicker ZX 650.4 amp,
Kicker ZX 700.5 amp,
Kicker ZX 2500.1 amp,
LA Sounds 80 watt amp for center channel speakers,
2 Cerwin Vega Stroker Pro 12's,
2 Kenwood KFC 6982ie 5 way 6x9's,
2 Hifonics Zeus ZX i6.5C component speakers,
1 Kicker TS10L5 Solo-Baric in Kicker box,
Tsunami 1/0 amp wire kit.

Will be getting a bigger alternator and a second battery. Have to build a box for my 12's yet. I have some 3" Blaupunkt speakers that I think I will use for my center channel speakers. Will have to make boxes for them too. Right now I only have my 700x5 amp hooked up and it pounds pretty good. Can't wait to get the rest done.

09-26-2008, 09:36 PM
that's a normal price ......... They were like $200 ea new in the 80's when they were still making them. The great thing is, they can be reconed forever.

Why isnt fosgate a choice?

My system:
Rockford Fosgate 4 Gauge wiring
Rockford Fosgate 1 Farad Cap
Pioneer P6000UB Headunit
2xRockford Fosgate Punch P3's
Kenwood 1800W Amp

10-10-2008, 05:53 PM
They were mostly listing brands that you could but an entire stereo from. Rockford makes mostly amps and subs with decent selection of main speakers.... but only one headunit (may not be available anymore), one EQ/processor currently available, ect ..

I have used 10s inCompetitionn and beaten 15s it all

I have 2 x 8s Altech Lansing in a band pass box pulls 136 db Most pioneer 12s and 15s have trouble breaking a true 135 db
Personal pref
go too member ship is free log ingo too members rides check out parrots Orange Gemini PVan

Extreme Selenium 10" going pull 140 db
tried and tested in db drags australian comps.
I have beaten cars with 2 x 15s with just the TENS
Extreme Selenium in the front doors pull 140 db as well the whole system has pulled in
latter shows 149.9 db = 4 x 12 & 2 x10 Extreme Selenium

This System is one of the Best Sound Quality cars in the world

22 years in car audio instalation

If you put 6's or 10's in certain types of boxes, it puts you in a different class than someone with a standard sealed or ported box .... at least in the comps here in the US

07-24-2009, 03:10 PM
i had 2 jl w6v1 in a sealed box w/o a divider in the middle my friends herd me from 2 miles away no joke it was in my cherokee the roof flexed so much my phone would bounce probably 5in off the top it was insane i miss that set up i had a 1000 crunch amp

now i have a kenwood 12 with a ported box and a sony 1000 watt amp its pretty loud but nothing to brag about at all

07-27-2009, 10:30 PM
i have all Bassworx
1x Bassworx Box ported
2x Bassworx 10" sub.
2x Bassworx 1200 wats amps so 1200 watts per sub
1x Bassworx 1000 wats amp amp
2x Bassworx component kits for the front
2x Bassworx 6/9 mid bass for the back
and a Pioneer front deck
all running on big Bassworx wire and need 4 150A fuses or else under then that they blow up

07-28-2009, 05:43 PM
ummm ... that's 600 amps of fusing for appx 3000 watts of power. 1 x 150 amp fuse should be enough, you have wired up something(s) wrong if you are blowing just less than 600 amps of fusing.

07-30-2009, 08:57 AM
i know im redoing it would u know wat i could of did wrong??

07-30-2009, 05:42 PM
make sure all the power and ground connections are SOLID and as few conectors as possible

07-30-2009, 06:12 PM
I put other, MTX all the way. Panasonic head unit for now... 2 MTX Thunder TA91002 amps, 2 MTX T9512-44 (12's for those of you that don't know), a Sledge Hammer box (by MTX for those subs), MTX tweeters, 6 1/2's, and 6x9's on the inside, Tsunami 20 Farad cap, trunk mounted extra Optima battery, Tsunami wiring, and I think it's Dynamat silencer. I didn't keep track of how much I paid for it all, I didn't want to. More than what I paid for my car though

09-24-2009, 01:39 PM

PLEASE see my opinions appreciated thread. I was or am or will continue to be a Nakamichi fanatic. I had a Nakamichi CR-7 home cassette deck and my Army roomate had a Dragon. Oh, the good ole days, huh?

12-28-2009, 11:09 PM
I swapped out my amps:
Eclipse 7100 (active)
Zed audio Deuce -> Dynaudio MW160
Zuki audio Eleets -> Dynaudio MD100
Zuki audio Eleets Bridged -> Adire koda 10

5 Watts of fury.

12-30-2009, 12:39 AM
those Zuki's are WAY underrated

Phoenix Gold roadster 66 5 limited edition 5 channel amp, 2 sets of Macintosh MS S630 6.5 inch components and a DLS ultimate nobelium 10 inch sub in a sealed box, all running of a Alpine IVA-W505 head unit, also have a 20 farad soundstream cap (overkill, I know but got it on the cheap from a friend). In a 2007 GMC Yukon XL.

I've got a humble system for my ride. It consists of the following components;
Alpine CDA-9833 HU
Alpine SPS-46C2
Alpine SPS-69C2 with an MTX Thunder4122 to power them
Infinity Reference 611a
(2) Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 subs in a sealed MTX Bass slammer enclosure with .65 cuft per chamber
Street wires wiring and RCA cables
Stinger ground distribution block
Direct Audio fused power distribution block
Lanzar 1.2 power capacitor

Not the greatest setup in the world, but far from the worst. I have somewhere between $1300-$1500 wrapped up in it. Next ride will likely have an extra $500 invested in the system as I plan to sound deaden the vehicle and use JL audio speakers/subs, and get a name brand cap.

Again, it's nothing to really brag about, but it should turn a few heads.

Oh, and as for the best brand IMO, out of those you have listed I'd say Alpine, but in truth the only things I really liked from Alpine were the HU's and amps. I'm not too impressed with their Type-s speakers I have or any of the subs of theirs I've heard, with the exception of a Type-X sub I once heard. Alpine seems to have gone down hill in the last few years, so I'm not even sure I can still say they're the best out of those listed to choose from. For speakers and subs I'd vote JL Audio. I know there are far more expensive brands out there and some of which are even more SQ oriented than JL, but I've never personally heard them, nor could I likely ever afford them.

My setup is crap because of my amp but I have:

2 12" Kenwoods 1200 watts each
and a crappy Lighting Audio amp.
