To Buy "with ticking" or not to buy

I looked at a pretty clean 94 Rodeo LS (2WD) today with the 3.2 V6 169,000 miles. It's a good price for the vehicle ($2000.00) but it ticked something awefull. It went away at about about 2500 RPM. The truck ran fine and everything was a go ecept for that noise

I see lots of posts about this engine with ticking on here but I have to ask if it is really worth buying

Ticking that goes away as RPM's increase could be a sign that the timing belt tensioner is failing. With 169k mi. it is probably due for a new timing belt, tensioner and maybe water pump.

Something said to wait and I did. I fell into a 97 Passport with all the bells and whistles at a bargain price

pretty for its age but I had to buy it for the price. It also has the check engine light flashing so I have some work and $ ahead of me. It is really clean though and I only paid 1800.00 for it. At that price I deserve to have to put something into it. I will be here often in the next few weeks/months.

Darn good price! Below Blue Book that's for sure!

The 97's in Colorado are still going for $4-7K, you surely couldn't get one around here for that little $$. The 93-95's are still in the mid $2-3K range.

If I ever had to sale mine - hopefully not, but if I did, I wouldn't sale it for less then $4,500.

You got a fabulous deal!
