This kit has been occupying my mind for some time. I wanted to build it, but didn`t know in what style. So about a month ago i thought about "Pro Touring" it. Some quicke mock-up proved that the Chevy engineers in the middle of the 50´s didn´t plan for 19" and bigger wheels :icon16: So some slight widening of the rear arches was needed.
Fairly easy 2-3mm var removed from each side. And you must have some decent rearend,so a R-M Ford`37 willingly gave away its Corvette rearaxle. Ok ok, you want photos, so here..

And in this stage the building halted, due to the builder deciding engine. A Chevy Bigblock from a R-M Corvette proved good, but something bigger was what i wanted. Ordered a Ross gibson engine in resin from Detailmaster (http://www.detailmaster.com) but it was out of stock :( But a few days ago when the kit called for attention, i decided to carry on: A good rear needs a good front,and since the original frame fronthalf didn`t exactly screamed "contemporary" i calmy sawed the front half away and brought out the Evergreen styrene..

Carefull filing and sanding to get it all to line up and straight was actually qiute easy( i usually file too much) but it looks straight. At this stage i found the front suspension from Testors "Coupster" . This is what i`ll use. The R-M Ford`37 frontsusp. looked too fragile..

When it comes to the wheels nothing is carved in stone. I´m thinking about widened steelwheels, but have lately found these more and more attractive

The only problem is at front were these will not be able to turn more than 10-20 degrees.
Paint? have a lot of ideas ( Ferrari red, twotone stock-style, pearl green)
but it`s a lot to work on before the paint will grace the primer.

Awsome! I want one now! Looks cool so far. For paint, I suggest a 2 tone, but deff not stock colors, not too wild either. Something that would fit a delray, and not a belair. Not to pricey, but worh it. Good luck.

Wow, there are a lot of "pro-touring" models turning up here lately!

I like the suspension mods so far. One thing I always do, not sure if it bothers you that much, but I sand off all the writing on the underside of the car.

What kind of wheels are those? I actually like them, they don't seem ridiculously big for the car. For a two-tone scheme, I would suggest maybe a charcoal with a blue or green insert?

Great job with the IFS and IRS!! As for paint, I would suggest med. green pearl/eggshell white pearl 2-tone. Just my :2cents: >

Hey, I liked reading through your thread with interest, I like both the writing and the modelstyle.

I don't have any particular input or such,but why not for for the classic mix of a darkish blue metallic body with a white upper part?

Bought it at my local hobbyshop about6 months ago. Should be available. I`ve heard that its a modified mold and formerly was the `56 Nomad, wich is OOP(??).

The wheels? I don`t know what they are but they`re from the Fujimi/hasegawa range.Found them in a kit i`ve worked on, but have gotten tired of.

No time to post, gotta figure out the front suspension!

The wheels are 19" Aoshima Work Equip 5 Spokes. Nice work so far!!:)
